@JonnyRoot_ This conversation could be held in an entirely black space and extend to discussing "light-skinned" players. It's ultimately a conversation about norms and othering. The NBA is wrestling with this now re: #NBAanalytics, the nerd mindset integrating with the jock paradigm.

I’ve hopped my whole life. Played with some of the best in The Bay. I understand the old adage about “white boys”, but the way LeBron goes about this not only shows a hypocrisy, but it diminishes the talent and effectiveness of white ballers. It’s as if he’s saying the only way to be successful as a white guy is to “play black” and if a black dude “plays white” it insinuates he’s lesser. Yeah, I understand the NBA is full of black dudes. Many of them have been my favorite players, but all of this just sit well with me. Steve Nash was amazing. Larry Bird is an all-time great. The list goes on… Heck, LeBron has a dude on his team that is one of the best in the league (Luka), and he doesn’t have to move like a black dude in order to be successful. I loved to be the “token white boy” on some teams growing up, so I hope y’all are picking up what I’m putting down. It’s just strange and dismissive to me.

LeBron says teammate Austin Reaves doesn’t “play like a white boy” 1. What does that even mean? 2. Imagine if a white guy said this about a black guy. Media would have a meltdown. 3. How does Steve Nash sit there & listen to this nonsense?

@jappleby I think that's the point. I wrestled with this on my big backpacking adventure. I reconciled it with this: Astronauts don't get to go to the moon with their family. When we finally win that CHIP, it might not be with the team we started with. Or the squad that means most to us.

Solo travel is viewed as this evolved experience. I've never loved it. Give me shared experiences over everything.

@EthanJDesign I'd factor in, how much people/entities value their audience and the cost/benefit of serving them. Content is a deluge. Social media was already being served by interns and people juggling other things. It's a competitive and saturated space, and it's not letting up.

When brands use ai like this it reaffirms my thought that in a world where anyone can technically produce graphics/animations, what will become most valuable is your personal taste and style as a creative. On top of your ability to be able to produce the content.

Heroin can kill. Blackjack can’t.
