@avidseries I considered Hegseth but it’s like comparing hitler to goebells, like idk you could compare them however you want but at the end of the day one of them is literally hitler. I’ve taken way more psychic damage from trump than hegseth by sheer exposure

A big AI company strategy for capturing resistance is to prey on the nerd fear of rejection. They frame rejecting AI companies as making the nerd’s social space unsafe, and therefore it’s virtuous and a form of insurance for the nerd to defend the multibillion dollar bad guys.

Are there very many billionaires coming out against this? I wouldn't say the 1% because the vast majority in the 1% are not actively profiting from this and will be harmed all the same. The people pushing this are mostly billionaires in tech, finance and defense. The class angle seems pertinent and will appeal to people.

I'm seeing a lot of my friends take this position but I think three things: 1) it's revisionist and an attempt to resolve cognitive dissonance over one of the most inexplicably bad things the administration has ever done. 2) it's a canard to say "the invasion threat wasn't serious, therefore this is a non-issue." The threat was a huge issue whether it was credible or not. 3) Denmark was absolutely right to take it seriously regardless, and their moves to that effect helped force the administration to back down, not out of fear of losing an armed confrontation, but by forcing key contingents who were quietly tolerating Trump's antics to get serious about pushing back

agreed on chalamet. beyond that, the dune movies are absolutely fucking crippled by the fact that they're *movies* instead of an HBO show. they're forced into this shitty liminal space where they're simultaneously much too long and much too short to effectively tell the story.
