Specialized Institutions: AIADMK regimes also focused on specialized fields, leading to the development of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University, as well as the implementation of a 7.5% reservation for government school students in medical admissions. Tamil University (1981): Founded in Thanjavur to promote high-level research in Tamil language, literature, and culture. Mother Teresa Women's University (1984): Established in Kodaikanal as the only university in the state dedicated solely to women's higher education. Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (1997): While the act was passed earlier, its initial groundwork and subsequent expansion of law colleges were key AIADMK priorities. Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (2005): The first of its kind in India, established in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (2012): Now known as Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, established in Nagapattinam. Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University (2013): Established in Chennai to promote traditional arts. Tamil Nadu National Law University (2012): Established in Tiruchirappalli to provide elite legal education.
