Football harms the brain of every boy who plays. The "Conclusive Evidence of CTE" debate is framed by the football industry and its doctors to distract parents from this simple fact. bit.ly/2Ytvvpe

@CyndyFeasel His ex's assumption that Richard was self-medicating football brain injuries with alcohol is rational and grounded in decades of scientific research. NCAA-funded doctors want us to believe that football is not a major cause of mental decline unless it's the only cause.

@btoppmeyer Meanwhile, the NCAA pays doctors tens of millions of dollars pushing the view that if football isn't SOLEY to blame for premature mental decline of former players, then the game shouldn't be blamed at all.

@btoppmeyer Thank you for reporting Mrs Pickens' hypotheses that Richard was self- medicating his football brain injuries and that alcohol abuse sped up his mental decline.

‘He just sort of withered away.’ Richard Pickens starred at Young High & Tennessee. He loved football. Football wrecked his brain. Pickens had Stage III CTE when he died in 2014. His family, friends & the Dr. who examined his brain tell his story: knoxnews.com/story/sports/c…

North American sport, all the way down, is a project to legitimize the instrumentalization of the human body for capital. Never has that been more clear.

If youth sports cannot be sustained because of revenue lost during the pandemic, so be it. How is this an institution we want to entrust our children to if it is willing to risk their lives for its own survival? What exactly does it have to do with health or education?

@profagagne No but it's easy for simple minds to draw that conclusion from " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

@davidmweissman Yes. State Senator Doug Henry led the resistance in Tennessee. And they resisted mandatory motorcycle helmet laws.
