@PhilbyB @BenGlenHuon Full cost recovery? So how much are ratepayers currently subsidising non short stay DA’s? I’m sure ratepayers would prefer developers to pay an appropriate amount than those costs be put on their rates notices! #politas

@BenGlenHuon A disgrace to public administration & private property rights. If it's costing $5k for tick & flick permit applications, HCC needs an efficiency review with a view to merging with surrounding councils. And if it's not the real cost, it's simply ideological garbage #politas #lgtas

Hobart City Council has just passed the motion raising the planning application fee for a change of use to Short Stay Accommodation from $435 to $5,000. The rise was recommended by Council staff on the basis of full cost recovery #politas #LGTas

@bj_stansfield @swegen31 you were patient & pragmatic here. @bj_stansfield if you could take the blinkers off you’d have an even better podcast. Labor went to last election with no new taxes with different leader. Guess what? They didn’t form govt unlike 2018 & underground bus mall #politas

Not often I agree with Saul these days, he's of course 100 per cent correct on this as I outlined on @PollPositionPod yesterday. Watch the full pod 👇 #politas

Time to rotate the Tassie PS superannuants with defined benefit schemes into accumulation funds. This will release billions of liabilities off TasGov balance sheet. Actual toilers in the private/corporate sector were forced into accumulation funds decades ago How come our swivel servants get the luxury of annual pensions that exceed their final salaries ? Maybe it's because our bloated PS is such a huge voting block in Tassie ?!?

2025: “Not spending $750M on stadium will save the health system” 2026: “$750M will not save the health system” Proves what we knew all along. Anti-stadium folk just used whatever false narrative to suit their deliberate misinformation campaign #politas

@TDMGnews Not sure about this one. Scores of media releases regularly go unreported even outside of elections #politas

Concerns have been raised that Tasmania’s mainstream media skipped critical election stories. An anonymous community source says press releases went unreported during election, even when fed media releases. #politas #tasmania #hobart

@nunsense12 Do you think water bombers should have priority over health and housing today?

The stadium represents " generational opportunities " ? That cliche is as meaningless as all the other trite, fatuous, nonsense spouted by our government & HM Loyal Opposition in their desperate attempts to pump oxygen into this Albino Pachyderm Just wait until the lid is lifted off MacPoint's 200 years of toxic legacy. We are already holding our nose #politas #auspol #Auspol2025

Why are stadium haters so anti-Tas? They’re willing to put at risk one of the greatest generational opportunities seen in recent decades. The oppose at all costs, dressed up as pretending to care about things they’ve never expressed a voice on previously, is horrendous #politas
Tasmanian Times@TasmanianTimes

Do you not believe that uniting Tasmanians behind the team is important? If so, why cannot you let go of the single most divisive issue? It’s not the jersey, the tattybogle mascot, or even the pricey training centre, it’s the stadium deal. tasmaniantimes.com/2025/07/why-do… #politas

Build the intellect before muscles. Brains always trump brawn. The Aussie pro sports & gambling obsessions will be our ruination, & displaces wealth that could aid our well being as a nation #politas #auspol #Auspol2025
TassieDevil2028@TDevil2028

@CassyOConnorMLC Ever thought that a more positive outlook will help improve many of those issues? Investing more money clearly doesn't help. There are generational issues at play here. Sport can foster the aspirations of the young and improve outcomes. #politas

@PeterCroger Won’t re-issue tender, tender will include final design, won’t add another year

Treasurer Abetz said the stadium could be designed down if the likely cost is too high, presumably after responses are received for the main tender. The redesign process, and the possible need to re-issue the tender, could add another year to the timeline. #politas

@footyindustryAU Sorry lazy question, how are ratings calculated these days? Used to be set top box things on x number of tvs per population. Assume it’s easier these days?

@CassyOConnorMLC We have all those sad records now Cassy. Having a stadium won’t fix them and not having a stadium won’t fix them. Issues Tasmanians are facing are the result of successive Liberal, Labor-Green and Labor governments failing to fix systemic issues #politas

The stadium will not come in at 1.13BN. It will be at least 2BN probably much more. That means that every game at the stadium will be subsidised to the tune of over $50 per Tasmanian over 10 years. ($25 per game over 20 years).

The process was chosen by those who wanted it to succeed. When the two major parties combine to ram through legislation that clearly doesn't have majority public support, it's not a model of democracy working well. #politas
sam macdonald@smacdonald03

@brentcostelloe This was the chosen democratic process chosen. Whether people agree or not, if that was the correct one, everyone must now respect the vote.
