@eachwayjase I've taken a couple of longer trips in my mum's EV, and whilst it does take a little bit more planning, it's entirely feasible. And for longer trips, EVs are actually better because they're far smoother with much less NVH than an ICE car.

The figure is actually about 1 in 13, so a pretty good proportion of the other 12 in 13 could manage perfectly well with an EV. Why do people always come up with niche use cases to support their case?

EVs were far less capable in 2019 than today. Even today's EVs still fall short of ICE vehicles in some respects. For example, you'd need a 240kWh battery in a regular 4x4 to get the equivalent range of an 80l tank of diesel.

@_JamesSteward_ @disco___cat There is a minor problem with EVs for a relatively tiny section of drivers and therefore widespread adoption wouldn't work at all for anyone. Got it. That is ridiculous and there are plenty of EVs that can tow shit now anyway.

@disco___cat About 1 in 10 families have a caravan or camper trailer. You won't tow them far on battery power.
