If One Piece was communist the way communists want it: - Kaya would be a villain because she's rich, in the live-action series, she owns a company. - Iceburg would be a villain because he's a businessman. - Luffy wouldn't be defending and restoring so many monarchies. - They wouldn't portray monarchy as something so positive. - They wouldn't show the positive aspects of the Marines, showing how there are honest people in it and how important is the Marines' work of arresting criminals. - Coby, Garp, and Fujitora wouldn't be heroic characters. - They wouldn't show the Revolutionary Army as not wanting to overthrow monarchies. - They wouldn't show how reformism works, it's possible to improve the system from within. - They wouldn't show Arlong as an example of how responding to hate with more hate doesn't solve anything. - They wouldn't show Arlong as an example of how the oppressed can become the oppressor. - There wouldn't be honest police officers outside the Marines either, like Genzo. - They wouldn't even show how even the Celestial Dragons can be redeemed, how there are good ones like ones in the Doflamingo family. - Marxism is collectivist, therefore they wouldn't show personal ambition or the desire for personal wealth, as something so positive and noble. - For modern communists, they wouldn't portray Luffy as a character who hits women, even Vivi.

The saints are not dead but that is no reason to believe they possess omniscience or are capable of hearing us and bringing our prayers to God’s ears (who doesn’t need them anyway).

Several months ago, Inquisitor (@WesternCatholik) posted a video response to a few old blog posts of mine and two videos on the topic of St. Jerome and the episcopacy. Besides one point of agreement we already had (the date of institution according to St. Jerome), if memory serves me right, every point he made sufficiently answered my original objections/arguments, and I have since taken down my video since I no longer stand by the arguments I originally made there. From the Protestants I've interacted with online, Inquisitor has probably challenged me the most intellectually. He is a very smart dude who knows his stuff very well and is always willing to dialogue respectfully. Here is his video: youtube.com/watch?v=nHCWg1…

"[John 3:16], as well as elsewhere taught, that it was the design of God to render the salvation of all men possible, by the gift of his Son. There was nothing in the nature, or the value, or the design of his work to render it available for any one class of men only." C.Hodge

If you’re arguing that “the Septuagint” or “the Dead Sea Scrolls,” both included certain books, and on that basis we must have those books in our Bibles today, then you have a big problem. Both “the Septuagint” and “the Dead Sea Scrolls” are mini-libraries — they include documents considered both scriptural and non-scriptural in their day.

For example, the Letter of Aristeas, 3rd and 4th Maccabees, the Ascension of Isaiah, the Testament of Job, the Life of Adam and Eve, the Psalms of Solomon, and the Assumption of Moses are all part of the Septuagint collections. The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, The Community Rule, recordings of the last words of Joseph, Judah, Levi, Naphtali, and Amram (the father of Moses) were amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls. Few (if any) of these books are considered scripture today by modern Christian or Jewish groups.

Both the Septuagint and the Dead Sea Scrolls are representative of ancient library collections — collections that contained scripture but that were not themselves wholly considered scripture. We today group them in these convenient categories with these helpful titles, but it is a misunderstanding to think of them as, or necessarily representative of, a single thing.

Everyone's view of apostolic succession, when pressed, becomes the Presbyterian view. Manual succession does not secure apostolic doctrine. And manual succession is necessary to secure the public authority of the visible church and its courts as a disciplinary body.

@The_Catechumen If you read Fragment 37, you will see that St. Irenaeus understands the oblation of the Eucharist as a spiritual sacrifice in the same genus as prayer, praise, and the holy living. Everyone agrees with this.
