If this is true (and I don’t believe him) then Lammy should be fired.
It is literally his job to know.
Are we really expected to believe that nobody in the No10 operation, and nobody in the Foreign Secretary’s team bothered to ask if Mandelson had passed vetting?

One other minor point. Downing Street's spin is bat-shit crazy. The argument by Robbin's allies that he was prohibited from telling Ministers actually supported Starmer's case. They're now taking a sledge-hammer to their own defence.
