@bahlivern SKG would not have saved the game. If the laws were in place, Highguard devs would've been forced to release offline mode, dedicated servers, or refund all purchased cosmetics.

@Grummz Honestly, why do you need CFOs and marketing teams if they dump these responsibilities onto game designers? They made a very popular game that became iconic almost instantly. If you cannot monetize it, it means your business-bros are incompetent.

Blizzard used to have a firewall. Parent company CFO did not get to direct and talk to Blizzard staff. If they wanted something they had to go through the President of Blizzard or founders.
When that firewall broke, you got things like this.
Creatives need to focus on creating and not have to deal with this stuff.

@ALegendaryDrops It can still give you a somewhat decent estimate of the minimum number of people who have actually bought the game. You also need to consider launch discounts and regional pricing.

This isn't how you would use Peak Concurrent and it undersells both games.
This really only works for new releases, but you correlate the sales figures of past releases to estimate, the more similar the concurrent the closer the estimate.
Based on prior Steam releases, Slay the Spire 2 has likely sold anywhere over 2 million to 4 million copies where Marathon its either just above or below 1 million copies sold.

@RohanKarMooN SKG says people who bought cosmetics in Highguard should still be able to enjoy them or get a refund. SKG suggests that games like Highguard should offer a dedicated server option. Highguard does not do either AFAIK.

It's funny that some of you are celebrating a game's death but at the same time, y'all were CRYING and hauling for Stop Killing Games initiative to be a success.
There's a limit in hypocrisy and some of you really love to cross it. Even if highguard wasn't my cup of tea, atleast i won't celebrate.

@ohutondeneruno I think it is very important for artists to know that art is not just 'safe', 'cozy' and 'happy'. A lot of classical art is uncanny, unsettling and depressing. You should be proud of yourself for standing out.

@KenneyNL Shadow of Mordor actually did this. After loading a game, it would show control hints. I'm not sure if there was a trigger, like showing hints only if you haven't played for a specific amount of time, but I saw them occasionally, and it really helped.

@modredcastleton To be fair, I thought there was a rule on Wikipedia that rejected self-made edits, prohibiting people from writing articles about themselves and their projects. This rule kinda makes sense, as abolishing it would open a floodgate.

Oh, and for completion's sake;
Here is the publisher for Primordia rightfully describing my role as designer, and then the wikipedia edits from a couple years ago where I simply tried to add my name in the design credit - which was removed multiple times by Wikipedia editors.

I think it proves a good point - Wikipedia is complete & utter horseshit & always has been (recent memory at least).
I changed the article for Primordia to simply include me as designer of the game I actually fucking designed-& it started an uproar among the Wikipedia soldiers.
