@LydiaGreenBK But you call it 'niche' just because you don't get it. I'm also aware of and will let others defend our unique perspectives on the community she serves and all of her unique accomplishments. It is true that there are many whose time has passed them by, but Joanne's record stands.

@LydiaGreenBK Joanne Simon maybe advanced in yours but she is also among the most advanced in caring for, for such a very long time, the needs of the largest and most overlooked community. For decades she has been a somewhat lonely voice fighting to create change for those need it the most.

@LydiaGreenBK When so many are enumerating all the marginalized communities they seek to protect - we are almost always left out. We are also the poorest minority and the most discriminated against we are in other words the most marginalized of every marginalized group.

Today I signed the Care Not Corruption Pledge with @CaringMRising, calling on the Governor to end the CDPAP partnership with PPL. Corporate profiteering has no place in our home care system. Home care workers deserve better. Consumers deserve better. New Yorkers deserve better. #EndPPL

On the 35th Anniversary of the ADA, we gathered together to celebrate how far we have come, acknowledge how far we have to go, and fight against those that would send us backwards. As the son of a mother with MS, these issues are personal to me, but it shouldn't require a personal connection to build systems and structures that work for everyone.
