Much work remains, but it is remarkable how much better the situation in Venezuela is due to the bold leadership of President Trump to order the daring removal of radical anti-American dictator Maduro. Turning the biggest strategic liability in the W. hemisphere (nexus for narco-terrorists & Cuba/China/Russia/Iran) for the US into a hugely significant strategic ally (oil/critical minerals) would be a master stroke of statecraft that isn’t getting enough credit. Certainly big challenges remain, but truly impressive so far. My piece I wrote for National Review in Nov 2025 stands up very well. 🇺🇸 nationalreview.com/2025/11/caraca…

Mike Johnson does a great job as Speaker. Getting 218 strong-willed House Republicans to all agree in a razor-thin majority with very few carrots and sticks at his disposal takes a level of patience and diplomacy that very few can truly understand and appreciate. Mike’s best attributes are his character, his patriotism and his faith, and the entire country owes him a debt of gratitude. 🇺🇸

NEW: 1,477 unread text messages, 829 unlistened-to voicemails, 14 minutes of family time on average each day, and phone calls from President Trump at all hours of the night. My profile into the life of Speaker Mike Johnson, who has one of the most politically fraught and exhausting jobs in the country. And yes, he does want two more years of it if Republicans keep ahold of the House majority. wsj.com/politics/mike-…

I asked Idahoans for their feedback, and the message was clear: make Daylight Saving Time (DST) permanent and end the twice-yearly clock changes. Today, I voted yes on H.R. 139, the Sunshine Protection Act, to do just that.

Very nice tribute from Sen. Amy Klobuchar. It’s a good sign when despite significant poltical differences, members of Congress can work with respectful and sincere friendship. 🇺🇸
Amy Klobuchar@amyklobuchar

It was a shock this morning to find out that my friend Lindsey Graham has died. He was a man who loved his work, his country, and his family. He didn’t have an easy life growing up and to me that explained a lot about him as well as his devotion to his remaining family members including his sister. It also explained his almost kid-like exuberance about his job and the responsibilities he was given (even in his sixties he would get off a plane in a foreign land with a twinkle in his eye and look at me as if to say, can you believe we are actually here and doing this?). Lindsey was loyal to friends and causes. He was willing to work on gnarly issues and take on (at times) political risks for the right reasons. It is fitting that he died shortly after visiting Ukraine, one of those causes he would stand up for through thick and thin. Much will be said in the coming days about his relationships with others—President Trump and John McCain for instance—but what can’t be forgotten is the reason why so many people he worked with—from senators to staff—will mourn his loss: Lindsey had a zest for life and the Senate that made you want to get to work on a bill with him or at least debate him. He brought joy to his job. Lindsey Graham was the one who was willing to work with me (when so few would) on helping the Afghan refugees. I remember standing outside of a little phone booth in the Republican cloakroom last year as he spoke with the Vice President, holding up a sign that said “Save the Afghans” and he put the phone on hold and said “OK OK I will go on your bill even if it gets me in trouble.” Or his early willingness to lead on big tech bills, including repealing the provision that protects them from consumer suits. But mostly my fond memories of spending time with Lindsey (and we travelled the world with John McCain) was not about the ups and downs of his policy positions. It was about his love for the world, his loyalty to hard causes and his friends, and the pure joy he brought to life. I will miss him.

I’m pleased that the Supreme Court has made a ruling that states can ensure that girls sports competitions are for girls. This is a big win both for common sense and for young ladies across America. I’m disappointed the Court maintained the farcical notion that 14th amendment means that birthism-tourists can subvert the spirit of what it means to be a United States citizen. I agree with Judge Alito’s Dissent. Congress should work to close this loophole. 🇺🇸

Pierre Yared has done outstanding work as the acting Chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors. It was great seeing him at the Rose Garden and I wish him well as he returns to his position at Columbia Business School. In particular, I will always appreciate our discussions of “little wins that can do big things for the economy” such as removing the chassis requirement for manufactured housing. A very smart guy. 🇺🇸

I’m disappointed by today’s Supreme Court ruling that states like California and Washington may continue to receive and count ballots for days, weeks and even months after Election Day. I agree with the points made in Judge Alito’s dissent written below about how counting late mail ballots increases opportunity for fraud and decreases voter trust. This ruling makes it all the more urgent for Congress to pass election safeguards including laws that ensure only US Citizens may vote in our elections and a new Federal law requiring ballots to be in by Election Day. 🇺🇸

SCOTUS Wire@scotus_wire

🚨 In a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court ruled that federal law does not require mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day, holding that states may count ballots postmarked by Election Day but received afterward if state law allows it.

@RepBaumgartner where is your bike helmet mike why do you praise trump adjudicated rapist x.com/gtconway3d/sta…
George Conway ⚖️🇺🇸@gtconway3d

What this means is that the jury verdict that determined that @realDonaldTrump had sexually abused my friend E. Jean Carroll by penetrating her vagina with his fingers, and therefore had defamed her by denying that he had done so, will stand as a final and conclusive judgment. The highly respected district judge who tried the case, the Hon. Lewis A. Kaplan, correctly stated multiple times that the jury's finding of sexual abuse under New York law meant that, in common parlance and under the law of most jurisdictions, Donald Trump was found to have raped E. Jean. So henceforth and forever more, it will be completely accurate—and utterly inactionable under the common and constitutional law of defamation—to state the following fact: DONALD J. TRUMP IS AN ADJUDICATED RAPIST.

Unfortunately Governor Bob Ferguson chose NOT to have Washington State officially participate in THE GREAT AMERICAN STATE FAIR, but I couldn’t let this stand, so I came down to man the nearly empty booth and show that not everyone in our state puts politics before celebrating our country. Fun to stamp the “passports” - as long as everyone said “Go Sea Hawks.” 🇺🇸

This is insane. If we want to restore trust in elections all ballots need to be in by election today, counts and results need to be immediate, and strict safeguards need to be in place to ensure that ONLY AMERICAN CITIZENS VOTE! 🇺🇸

Ok so this is a bit of a departure for @schoolofwarpod, but today we talk to John Mitani, whose work among the apes in Africa includes documenting an extraordinary multi-year civil war within a group of chimps. Some really interesting insights on the origins of violence and war.

I had the pleasure of touring Priority Tax Relief, a Spokane based business founded by former Eastern Washington University football players (Go Eags!). The company employs more than 230 people both locally and across the country. The company has done hiring former college athletes from throughout our region (Eags, Cougs, Zags, Vandals, Pirates ect) and offering internship opportunities to current students during their off‑season.
