@AndyMitten Andy, perhaps when we drop the sentimentality and dream of what we once were, will we start to shape what we will eventually become.

🚨 JUST IN: The club will give Carrick significantly more influence over transfers than predecessor Rúben Amorim, after Carrick sought assurances of greater involvement in recruitment ahead of a crucial summer window that includes the departure of key player Casemiro. United are keen on this more cooperative approach as they target a strong return to the Champions League and push ambitions toward challenging for major honours, including long-term ‘Project 150’ goals. [@UtdDistrict]

Brent is already starting up the anti-Carrick agenda. Shall we do the over-under on when he starts calling for him to be fired next season? It's so fucking predictable. By the way, Gary Neville is in bed with this guy. Not a United fan. Can we still count him as a legend?

I don’t get the Ole comparisons or the negativity. OGS finished 3rd and 2nd. @ManUtd ended last season 15th. Every managerial appointment is a risk. Carrick has surely deserved his chance? bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

So the LIE we didn't look at other candidates has been DEBUNK.....at least Man Utd fans can push back against this false narrative
The Athletic | Football@TheAthleticFC

"They did look at different candidates, Andoni Iraola and Unai Emery among them... "But it has been decided by the people that work with Michael Carrick that he is the right man to take Manchester United into next season." @lauriewhitwell on his story that Michael Carrick is line to take the Manchester United job on a permanent basis. bit.ly/42As8j0

I think it quite clear that Wilcox and co gave into the narrative under Amorim, and now seem to have folded under the current narrative. Worrying signs. Hoping for the good season regardless.

This current United team less Casemiro - whoever was put in charge of them for next season would always struggle playing two times a week The biggest determination of Utd's success next season will be the players they sign this summer. Every available £ should be going to that

There’s a serious amount of so called “Manchester United fans” on this app that feed off the negativity and actually want our team who are doing well during a bright period to capitulate praying for the manager of said team to get the sack in the near future. They don’t care about wanting the team to succeed, they care more about their point being proven right and they’ll stick to their pathetic little agenda so they can view themselves as some sort of Nostradamus, absolute clowns, go support another club if you don’t want Carrick.

Lads, can you just stop trying to find issues? We've qualified for Europe. We should get 4/5 quality signings in and have a full pre-season with a new midfield. The way we play now will not be the same as with a new central midfield. Signings will be made for whatever manager is there in a number of years, not for a specific system, so stop worrying, the players aren't Carrick's, they're players for the INEOS game plan. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but wishing it to not work to be proven right isn't going to make you feel any better.

Proper awkward situation. You go with someone else and he has a mare then it's you should have kept him. He has a mare then it's we should have gone for someone else. Can't win.

From my understanding: the current state of play on the managerial market - as of the moment i'm writing this: Unai Emery: Emery is expected to stay at Aston Villa. United and a few other clubs had interest. He's playing a big part in transfer discussions for the summer for Villa. Andoni Iraola: Chelsea have him as their second option behind Alonso with Palace trying everything they can to acquire him - some big fees thrown around I hear. @NathSalt1 has reported today that he's been ruled out the United job. Julian Nagelsmann: He was one of the names which was loved internally at #MUFC. If the world cup wasn't on this year, I honestly believe we could be having a different conversation at the moment. But the world cup put a major stamp on any progression. Luis Enrique: He's closing in on a new contract as PSG as reported a few weeks back. Marco Silva: Fulham are trying everything to get him to sign a new deal I'm told. His entourage has been reaching out to other clubs. He has big personal ambitions. Also on #CFC's list. Enzo Maresca: If / when Pep leaves, Maresca will take charge of Man City. It is all but done on the Maresca side, as they await Pep’s decision - as reported by @HandofArsenal. Xabi Alonso: Alonso has held positive talks with Chelsea officials over the managerial role for next season. He is keen to return to managing. He is Chelsea's number 1 target as reported by @MaxFSport Oliver Glasner: He has attracted interest from Germany. His personal preference was to initially manage in the premier league and while this is still possible, interest from English clubs have cooled. At least two German clubs hold an interest in him. My report from yesterday regarding Michael Carrick remains the same with the expectation to be offered the #MUFC permanent head coach role barring any last minute decisions. The club insist no final decision has been made yet as they go through a 'thorough process'.

🚨 JUST IN: United bosses also wanted to allay any remaining concerns about backing Carrick, whose only other managerial job was at Middlesbrough, and were wary of history repeating itself following the decision to give caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a long-term contract in 2019. But they have been hugely impressed by the way Carrick has galvanised the club since replacing Ruben Amorim in mid-January, winning 10 of his 15 games in charge with three draws and just two defeats. 🚨💣 BREAKING: Andoni Iraola has been RULED OUT of contention for the Manchester United job as Michael Carrick edges closer to being confirmed as head coach. Although United insist no decision has been made, all the signs point to Carrick and an announcement could be made before the end of the season. Iraola is leaving Bournemouth and it is believed that he would have been among the leading contenders if United decide against keeping Carrick. But the 43-year-old is no longer under consideration, leaving him free to discuss the managerial vacancies at Crystal Palace and Chelsea. [@ChrisWheelerDM, @NathSalt1]

Man United didn’t want Flick btw I know we have no control over club decisions but some of the conversations and arguments we make as fans have to get better. Barcelona don’t have some physically elite team and they’re playing his football regardless. Food for thought!

🚨🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 Hansi Flick and Barcelona agree on new contract — all approved after verbal agreement in place weeks ago. New contract valid until June 2028 plus option until 2029, negotiated with his agent Zahavi in Barcelona. 💙❤️ Signatures will follow next, as @mundodeportivo called.

United fans that thinks the managerial market is filled with available world class managers are in for rude awakening. PSG won’t let Enrique go, Barcelona will extend Flick’s contract, Klopp is not ready to be on the touch line again, Zidane is waiting for France, Pep is doing sabbatical after City, Arteta is married to Arsenal, Tuchel signed new contract, Ancelotti signed new contract, even Liverpool will have to manage Slot against their wish next season. You think if there are world class managers available on the loose, Madrid would be going for Jose in big 2026? Madrid didn’t see Iraola or Naglesmann? Again, as a United fan, you will like Carrick o, by force 😂😂😂😂😂

Carrick's United are always balanced in possession. Build-up? Top coaching. Excellent detail for short and direct play. Higher up? More fluid. Reliant on the players to 'feel the spaces' within a balanced framework. Top approach. Defensively? Not elite. Cautious. But balanced.
