Chicagoans come in all shapes and sizes. Welcome home, 🐳 Acadia, 🐳 Osiris, 🐳 Sierra & 🐳 Lillooet! 4 of 30 belugas rescued from euthanasia after a Canadian marine park closed. Six more are coming to @shedd_aquarium, more than doubling its whale population to 18. Belugas are beautiful, intelligent creatures, capable of self-recognition, believed to be self-aware. One of my favorite animals.

Sunday and Monday will be the hottest days next week, with highs in the 80s/90s and heat index values from 100-110 degrees. Dew points will skyrocket Saturday into Sunday, with dew points in the 70s on Sunday and 80s on Monday. Our best chance for severe weather will be Monday afternoon with a passing squall line/bow echo capable of damaging wind gusts. Slightly cooler weather will follow afterwards next week. #ilwx

NEW: Four beluga whales have been rescued by Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. Canada's Marineland park closed, which left 30 belugas needing a home. A team of veterinarians and animal care experts from the @shedd_aquarium, @SeaWorld, the @GeorgiaAquarium and the @mysticaquarium teamed up to transport the whales to new locations. Four of the female belugas were transported by a cargo jet and a truck to the Shedd. They will not be on display to the public until they are adjusted to their new environment. The Shedd said that these rescues "demand extraordinary precision, patience and care." They'll be sharing more updates as the whales get used to their new home.

@marcusleshock Something something everything is too expensive including to go to these resorts. Tickets are insane and then you get there and are expected to spend even more on food etc. So, what did they expect? The fact they still have enough people going is a miracle.

NEW: Universal theme park revenue was up 2.7% in the second quarter, driven by continued strength at Epic Universe in Orlando. However, parent company Comcast said performance across the broader resort was below expectations with “attendance softening in June which has continued into Q3.” Comcast co-CEO Mikey Cavanagh said weakness in consumer sentiment and higher travel costs are to blame. He added that he didn’t expect this to be a permanent issue, saying they “continue to see continued consumer appeal and satisfaction in all things we look at as it relates to the excitement people have” about the parks. Have you traveled to any of the Florida theme parks this summer?

@nilwxreports I've seen pictures of them. Very cute. The Shedd Aquarium is getting one. I may have to plan a trip down there as soon as they are publicly viewable. I'd like to see the dolphins of the whales.

Wild video of them transporting Beluga Whales to Sea World San Antonio after being flown in from Marineland in Canada. Good to these parks/aquariums for rescuing these creatures. Better days are ahead for them.

@MaxVelocityWX Your fridge, if you eliminate all the food you ordered, is 90% condiments and beverages. I also question how old some of it is but given the state of this fridge, probably old. If you really are having trouble eating during streams, meal prep. You'll save so much money.
