What they failed to tell you is that local councils can still slug you eye-watering amounts for the privilege.
We just received a bill from the Hamilton City Council for $26,000 for “development contributions” for a two-bedroom granny flat.

@NotFarLeftAtAll We have a 1/2 acre lawn and my husband has used one of these for 18 months. Lawns have never looked so good. Even mows in stripes, like a bowling green.

#BHN Tova asks Nicola Willis why the govt won't meet the target of "only 6%" of children in material hardship. Willis blames Labour for setting too aggressive a target. If we recall correctly, it was Jacinda who set a 0% target because she believed it was not acceptable for ANY child in a country as wealthy as NZ to be in poverty.

Should New Zealand cap its population?
Switzerland is about to vote on a measure to do so - which would cap its population at 10 million.
The Swiss People's Party, which backs the measure, describes it as a "sustainability initiative" aimed at easing pressure on housing, public services and the environment.
The Swiss population has grown rapidly in recent years due to mass migration - 27% of the population are now immigrants, and voters are concerned about overcrowded trains, expensive apartments, and rising health costs.
27% is the same ballpark as New Zealand’s foreign born share and we’re suffering the same housing, infrastructure, and public service issues.
NZ First has in the past floated the idea of a “population strategy” that would set out how many people we want in the country and from where.
