@geerlingguy Wow, they "improved" that over the past couple of years. We bought a Siemens Washer/Dryer back in 2020 and HomeConnect was already implemented but only interesting for monitoring (e.g. HA) or convenient setup. This is ridicoulus. There should be a right to use stuff pure locally.

My old GE dishwasher broke (completely dead, tried many ways to reset, was dying for months though...). Bought a new Bosch 500 (highest not-zillion-dollar model I could get over weekend). Installed, went to mess with some settings and...

@geerlingguy The MUZI H1 looks like a fun unit for tinkering. I ordered one now :D Do you have any experience of how very long slow lasts in terms of range?

@geerlingguy Back in the days when Google was a helpful search tool, boards were a really great way to find answers too even specific and unusual topics. Nowadays it's more and more LLMs and then you can't be sure about it, cause it's curated.

A Discord is not a substitute for a website. Or a support forum. Or an issue queue. Or really pretty much anything besides maybe IRC or Matrix if you're not worried about the openness of the chat platform.

@TechnoTimLive when you zfs replace a drive best to use /dev/disk/by-id rather than /dev/sdX which can change. This could potentially be what occurred. supposedly it wont break ZFS to use /dev/sdx and it change because of the added info zfs puts on the drive identifying it

For some reason TrueNAS is identifying a new disk, however this disk is already in a mirrored pair. Wondering if I should remove the disk from the pair and add this one instead (even though they are the same serial number, etc.) Super confusing. Has anyone run into this?

Apparently all our cars and appliances chose the week of baby's birth to act up. Last night AC stopped working. Luckily there's an AC supply shop (Thompson) with the 40uF cap I needed. Works again! Caps aren't supposed to bulge like that...

@durreadan01 Half your cycles but 1/10 of your capacity loss. I use the 80% charge limit and mostly charge by USB-C. Wireless charging produces too much heat. I also don’t usually let it go below 20%.

The new desktop looks and feels great. It's still Alpha, but that's the way it should work like. I loved that it just scaled perfectly on my 3K matebook. #PopOS #Linux #Cosmic

@MichaelAArouet I always think of tax fraud, when I see cash only. It's not about the cash in general. I like it too, but the sheer lack of alternatives is mind blowing. Also very boomer based country. Fiber - nah we don't need that. 5G, get lost not needed.

Spending few days in Germany. My daughter has just completed an internship at a clinic here. She tells me that German clinics and hospitals really still communicate via fax machines with each other. WTF happened to this country?

@n3ll41 @mystery_kiwi Die Antwort hört man leider viel zu selten und ich meine damit nicht Arch und Kali (die zu mögen steht außer Frage). Schön, dass es noch undogmatische User gibt.

@TechnoTimLive Everyone with Proxmox learns it the hard way :) I have a number chapter as playground and some "fixed" numbers for persistant VMs. It makes sense to put some brainpower on it before running into trouble ;)

I’m not sure why Proxmox settled on sequential numbers for Virtual Machine IDs. If you delete a VM and reuse the ID, all backups from the previous machine now show up for the new machine. Why not a UUID? Am I missing something?

@TechnoTimLive I use @NZXT Aios for the last three machines I built. Worked flawlessly. General air flow is also mandatory. 8x 140mm @Noctua_at do the job on my current workstation (7950x+7900XTX). It's important what job has to be done.
