@99Proble @BotanicsEcs For sure! I wasn’t following it at all so was interested to go check it out. Don’t know that space.
Management seemed pretty top notch to me but the competitive landscape is that space is a challenge.

A couple of times where tax quirks have softened life’s blows.
Being a widower with 2 kids under 2.
Starting a new business and earning nothing for a year, selling assets for $70k split between new wife and I to support a family of 6.
Taxes up on both.

The Albanese government has blindsided the financial sector with a surprise “death tax” on wills and estates, triggering urgent calls for clarification from wealth advisers. Under new budget measures, family trusts are set to be hit with a minimum 30 per cent tax rate. The new rule will also apply to the most common form of estate planning trust: the Testamentary Discretionary Trust. theaustralian.com.au/wealth/budget-…

Is Bapcor $BAP the absolute Champion in issuing profit downgrades?
Who knows of any other ASX-listed company that has done "better" (i.e. worse)?

What if the most enduring thing from Chalmers 2026 budget was Emily?
ON and the Libs can make it all go away but they can never take Emily.

Sheesh. $BAP.AX Trading update saying things are improving since Feb but they downgrade FY26 guidance (updated in Feb). They’ve learnt from Chalmers, just say the opposite of what’s happening.
I gotta start shorting.

If the SOI doubles and the SP halves is it any cheaper? No. No it’s not. But on an EV basis…..🤔🤣 $bap.ax

@Filapek @ThomasStapp1 🤣 how much is Mark / Hyperion paying you?
That last screen shot was from 31/3/25. And shock horror, he’s underperforming (what happens when you’re long $GYG.ax).
So yeah, at 31/3/26, it’s no.
English

@99Proble @ThomasStapp1 You don't understand; one bad year at the end works its way through into the past much farther than you are now accepting. It's how calculations work. The answer remains a firm yes

If you're reading this in a Q1 fund letter:
"We have been actively repositioning the portfolio in 2025 in anticipation of AI-driven disruption to legacy enterprise and SaaS [...]. Taiwan remains our largest country exposure"
but the fund's Q1 return was 1.0% (!!)...
wtf did these people do??

@ausnotes @Nobody_But_M3 Anyone got practical experience on how these two rules are applied in NZ? Just hold for 2 years and it’s tax free? Or do they look through at patterns etc?

English

@Nobody_But_M3 Can we make a village of Australian expats in NZ? Lots of potential.
English

@Silent01010 Don’t forget to ask her opinion company structures and utilising pension age relatives tax free status.

@zacharyjoyce Tail end of the mining boom killed the 15yr time period. 10 or 20 years was easy alpha vs asx.

@Phoenix_FFM Was a good day today. There will be bad ones ahead, like this evening, but today was nice.
