@DimaZeniuk It would be cool to take a segment of Starship and create some memoir coins, keychains etc... Engrave Flight 14 and the date. This one was pretty special.😉🐄🌙

@ABabe2563 @ferrari619371 @business I do not understand the pushback to the idea that the heatshield is a major challenge when the CEO of the company has said it himself, multiple times. If you look at the heatshield now, yes the vehicle survived, but it has a long while to go before it requires no refurbishment.

The heat shield that protects SpaceX’s Starship vehicle as it plummets back to Earth may prove to be a substantial roadblock to Elon Musk’s path to designing a rapidly reusable rocket, according to former NASA researchers bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@ABabe2563 @ferrari619371 @business there are still plenty of unknowns about starship reuse. We dont know how long a ship will take to get ready for flight again. That is a fact. Elon himself stated that this heatshield is one of the most difficult parts of the entire vehicle architecture.

@jameslmorton @cyborg0621t @business At the current pace no. A monthly cadence of "15 launches" which would be 1500 tons of fueling...that's over a year to fuel HLS. The ship has a capacity of 1700 tons. "Over a few hours"?🤔🙃

@cyborg0621t @ABabe2563 @business HLS Starship requires 20 Starship launches over a few hours for a single mission, and that’s supposed to be ready for human flight in 2028.

@Stellarixorine 17.6 million pounds of thrust. Need to get those numbers right. That's off by a million. SLS 8.8 million. So twice SLS.

@ShiftyShylock Moving too fast, they would've adjusted course a good while ago at the initial junction. Last spot is the storage site.

Possible vessel spotted. Waiting to see if it clears a few potential stops before declaring. We'll be posting live updates for the recovery operations in our discord starting tomorrow morning!

Here are a few other things that the experts said about SpaceX: "There is no scenario in which the economics of reusable launch vehicles makes them preferable in cost to expendable launch vehicles." – Dr. Stephen Book (Aerospace Cost Analyst) "It's pretty darn hard to make that [reusability] actually save money." – Tory Bruno (CEO United Launch Alliance) "I support the encouragement of the newcomers... But I am not confident." – Neil Armstrong (Apollo 11 Commander) "I think the odds are against them." – Burt Rutan (Founder & Chief Engineer Scaled Composites) "This is not the time to experiment." – Harrison Schmitt (Apollo 17 Astronaut) "Get your boy Elon in line!" – Bill Nelson (Senator)

Okay so, bit of confusion over what's happening yesterday so here's where we're at: Two vessels are outbound to S40 to assist in recovery operations. NORMAND RANGER and SKIMMER TIDE. Both are similar in size to Australis and Ranger especially seems fit for towing. Ranger will arrive at the site in the next day and a half while Skimmer will arrive in two. GO Australis is still closely following the drifting Starship, 134 hours and counting since landing.
