Olympians train for years to represent their country and themselves in their sport. Baseball players take most of the winter off after the MLB season, and get started again in February - during Spring Training. It takes about 6 weeks for players to get into regular season form. The WBC is NOT the Olympics, nor is it the World Cup. It’s a fun tournament during Spring Training.
