So often our posts cover the devastating impact of Russia’s invasion on #Ukraine’s children. Today, a heartwarming story: 4 🇺🇦 kids have returned home from Russian-occupied territory. Gratitude to all who worked behind the scenes to make this possible. 🙏
Dmytro Lubinets@lubinetzs

🇺🇦Four more Ukrainian children have returned home from the temporarily occupied territories. Thanks to the efforts of the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine, within the framework of the President of Ukraine’s @BringKidsBackUA initiative and with the support of the @FLOTUS Melania Trump, children aged 6 to 15 have safely returned to Government-controlled territory. I sincerely thank First Lady Melania Trump for supporting Ukraine’s humanitarian efforts to bring our children home. Special thanks also to MHP, an international company with a Ukrainian spirit, and its Founder and CEO, Yuriy Kosiuk, for supporting this return. I sincerely congratulate the children on being reunited with their loved ones. We will continue working until every Ukrainian child returns home.

1/3 Rebecca Bakos Blumenthal, Starvation and Humanitarian Crisis Lead at GRC, and Elise Lauriot Prevost, Legal Advisor at GRC, explore how Russia’s siege of Mariupol was not an isolated military campaign, but the continuation of a doctrine refined during the conflict in Syria.

2/3 Throughout the article, the authors show that modern sieges follow a pattern: cities are encircled, humanitarian access is obstructed, critical civilian infrastructure is systematically destroyed and dismantled, and starvation is used as a weapon against civilians.

Experts at ACA partner @GtownICJI agree that sexual violence is being used as a tactic by Russian forces in #Ukraine. There is a clear pattern of #CRSV across regions, particularly in places of detention, that is only explained as a policy. More👇 tvpworld.com/94566907/a-wea…

A new investigation alleges a pattern of systematic abuse. Former Ukrainian prisoners describe rape, genital mutilation and electric shocks in Russian detention, according to The Wall Street Journal [@WSJ]. UN investigators say they have documented hundreds of alleged cases, while warning the true scale may be far greater due to restricted access. tvpworld.com/94566907/

A powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a life disrupted by Russia's war of aggression. The EU is 1 of 3 donor governments supporting ACA, along w/the UK & US, in our shared mission to ensure accountability for atrocity crimes in #Ukraine. @EUDelegationUA @EUAM_Ukraine

The hardest part of losing your home is not packing your suitcase. It is deciding what part of your life you have to leave behind forever. In Kharkiv this week, I visited the city's Transit Centre. The first safe place for people fleeing the advancing front line. They arrive carrying everything they still own in a few ordinary bags. And sometimes their pets. Their homes, their gardens, their neighbours, all the small and big things that were called their lives, remain behind. I met Larysa, evacuated from the Donetsk region. She was still shaking as we spoke. Her town is being destroyed. She told me she has only one wish: for this war to end as soon as possible. I met Borys, whose village lies just eight kilometres from the front line. Drones fly overhead every day. His home is gone. His wife is ill. The centre helped them with medicines. He looked at me and quietly said: “We left everything behind. All our life, all what we worked so hard for. Everything now is destroyed.” And I met Oleksandr, who pushed a handcart for almost 25 kilometres, on foot, to reach safety. Since May last year, more than 42,300 people have passed through this Transit Centre. In July alone, it has already helped around 180 people, twice as many as last month. The center is operated by @UNHCRUkraine and supported by 🇪🇺. It is housed in a former school. Classrooms where children once learned have become places where displaced families register for assistance. Student dormitories have become temporary homes. But let us not forget. Behind every number is a name. Behind every name is a life interrupted by Russia's war. The European Union will continue supporting Kharkiv and our humanitarian partners. Nobody who has lost everything should have to face that loss alone! 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦

A new report from 🇺🇦 military intelligence details Russia's efforts to alter demographics in occupied #Ukraine. #Occupation law is clear: an occupying power is strictly prohibited from transferring its own civilian population into occupied territory. ⚖️ #IHL

At the @UN Security Council Open Debate on #CRSV, SRSG Pramila Patten urged the international community to honor the promise of international law to survivors of conflict-related sexual violence. The SG’s latest report verified 9,788 cases in 2025. Behind every number is a survivor demanding protection, justice, and accountability.
