@GrahamSpiers The issue is not differing opinions of fans. But the different decisions between official from one game to the next. One thing is for sure, officials are consistently inconsistent.

I’ve learned again that exhausting truth about Scottish football in recent weeks: that hotly-contested refereeing decisions are scarcely ever approached by fans with an open mind, but forever shaped by which team you support. Hence the very same penalty is either “a stonewaller” or “never a penalty in a million years” when, in actual fact, with all the competing evidence and TV angles, it is often very hard to call. It becomes draining, trying to argue with “emphatic” on both sides. A futile pursuit. Forgive my simpering.🤣 I suppose I get paid for all this.

@afneil Easy- Ask the SNP. They had great ideas under Sturgeon for domestic energy. Oh wait, that didn’t even get off the ground 🙈.

OK — you tell me — how do you nationalise energy, water and ‘housing’ (whatever that means) without borrowing tens of billions more to do so?
The Red Resistance (Keith Davies)@resistance_red

@afneil Are you happy with ANYONE trying to do something different Andrew. He has been a big success in Manchester. Maybe he knows something. You've derided any new ideas as the status quo fails catastrophically. Do you want the far right spivs with their huge medical bills policies?

@TEnglishSport Hard to follow that when even the manager of the winning team didn’t think the game was over (or the fourth official for that matter) as per his interview post match. In fact, it’s strange that you are so definite on it when even he isn’t?

SFA needs to show a scintilla of responsibility and leadership and introduce proper sanctions for pitch invasions from next season - stand closure, closed doors games, points deduction, forfeiture of a game. This stuff has to stop. It’s getting worse

@ibroxrocks TBH- That’s exactly what I was thinking until I read that statement. Now, my feeling is that we need to change those who are in charge at the SFA as they are the ones who setting the narrative and culture trickling down to the referees. Focus should now be on them.

@henrywinter The officials in Scotland are part time. In reality, it’s less than part time in the sense they all have full time jobs. Instead of investing in VAR, they should have looked at having FULL TIME officials.

Celtic’s penalty was certainly a debatable decision. Impossible to be definitive either way, hence current widespread inquest, so they really should have stayed with original on-field. No pen. Understandable anger amongst Motherwell and Hearts coaches, players and supporters. Hearts now travel to Celtic Park for a title decider. The Foundation of Hearts, which owns 75% of the club, has called “on those responsible for the officiating of Saturday’s match to ensure that the highest standards of decision-making are applied, so that the game is decided by the players on the pitch and the team is given the fair opportunity it has earned”. Strong words. North and South of the Border the quality of officiating - and consistency – has been questioned this season. The problem is not the technology but those using it. There are some very competent officials about. But more are needed. Whether the Fir Park hand-ball was the worst decision ever is a moot point. Here are a few that spring immediately to mind, clear-cut mistakes, bound to trigger some frustrated flashbacks, in no particular order…. Diogo Dalot on Jeremy Doku, somehow only a yellow. Michael Keane on Doku, somehow only a yellow. Jordan Pickford taking out Virgil van Dijk. Harry Kane foot up on Andy Robertson. Tomas Soucek stopping a shot from Conor Gallagher with his hand. Rodri hand-ball against Everton. On it goes. Elliot Anderson on Ollie Watkins, cleared on review, mad. Kelechi Iheanacho denied a goal for Celtic against Braga when VAR ruled he’d handled when the ball came off his cheek. Gabriel not being dismissed for lowering his forehead into Erling Haaland. Luis Diaz punished for a non-existent offside when scoring for Liverpool against Tottenham. Lee Mason left his VAR job “by mutual consent” and PGMO apologised after he failed to draw the lines and spot Christian Norgaard offside in the build-up to Ivan Toney scoring for Brentford, costing Arsenal two points. And many others. The problem isn’t the technology; it’s the people using it, with the additional issue in Scotland of whether there is sufficient investment in the technology infrastructure. VAR is the safety net - but currently with too many holes.

@TheRefsView I used to think some of these decisions was just the way the cookie crumbles. Then I began to think there were due to poor refereeing. Now I believe it is 100% cheating. Sickening.

“IF” this is true, then surely it is completely inappropriate at any point never mind in the lead up to a key game in the closing games of a league title hunt?

@afneil Devolution has made it worse. Along with a parochial mentality from the electorate when going to the ballot box.

I agree 100%. I am and have always been very proud to be Scottish. That will never change. But I am not proud of what the SNP has done to Scotland (or Labour for that matter), what it has become and I fear we are now in relentless decline, in stark contradistinction to our glorious past. But the Scots have nobody to blame but themselves. Nobody forced this dire mediocrity on them. They voted for it. Again and again and again. Devolution has only made it worse. The politics and ambition of the kailyard.

@SouthLanCouncil Hiya. Sent a wee email to the council tax address. Would you happen to know the generic timeframes for a reply? Just so I know what to expect wether it’s likely to be a few days, a week, couple of weeks or a month? Cheers.

Skov Olsen - dive - correctly cautioned. We need to rid the game of cheating. No matter which player or team. It is simply cheating fellow professionals. We won’t change our stance on this.

Thought we were handling that second half fairly well until we weren’t - but I guess those are the margins when you just try and keep it tight like that. Strange not to see Rommens or Skov or Antman at all - a couple of odd subs late on when we have a man advantage.
