Yes, I declared I would never read another Murakami novel and I'm glad I violated my edict later in life. I read The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle in my early 20s and didn't connect with it at all. In a state of boredom I picked it up in my 40s and it was like reading a different novel. I then read all of his other novels back to back.

@Bernstein My recollection is that the problem some had wasn’t with Pitt’s casting as Achilles in terms of aesthetics, it was just his performance - he seemed to have “phoned it in” and while he’s no Daniel day Lewis the role was easily something he could handle.

Again: 41 year old guy here. At the time Troy came out, Pitt’s casting and performance were considered a movie-ruining disaster.

i hit a nicotine vape the other day after not hitting a nicotine vape for several years and nearly doubled over from coughing. meanwhile if i have just two beers i can rip marlboro heaters all night long no problem. theres no way that the vapes are not slowing killing millions
