@p8stie Tokyo is fine--so long as you don't follow any talking kaibyō into a glowing subterranean tunnel. Also, don't sign any legal contracts with them -- trust me it's a huge mistake.

Tokyo and Seoul as cities have very dark and creepy energy. Evil spirits everywhere probably. The entire of Japan might be evil but I haven’t investigated heavily. Taipei is normal though, good vibes

It's crazy. Imagine our fathers/uncles/grandfathers at these guys' age doing stuff like waiting in line for Pokemon cards (for himself, not because his kids want them and he waited until Christmas Eve), freaking out about Marvel superhero movies, getting in heated debates about Stars Wars, etc.

@commcenterpod @ClaytonCountyDA @Georgia_AG Got it. She definitely had a bad day - the type of day we all experience and that your brain will remind you of years later out of nowhere, for no reason. "Hey remember that time you got totally humiliated let's replay it!"

@AHOGEN @ClaytonCountyDA @Georgia_AG It is my understanding that she represents Clayton County in this case, but I believe she has her own practice. I’m not interested in embarrassing her any further than what’s on the record, so I left her name out.

Is this the (or a) prosecutor from the underlying case? Not a criminal defense attorney, but in the criminal cases involving appeals I've heard about over the years defendants used different (often appellate experienced) counsel at the appellate level. I would have assumed the state handled it similarly by using appellate experienced staff attorneys (or perhaps outside counsel if appropriate).

The delays and cancellations (including the communication regarding them, and the havoc/lack of assistance that follows) have pushed us to the same point. Perhaps this isn't fair, but I think it makes it worse that for years they were so good compared to other airlines (at least in my experience), even the more expensive ones. It makes the drop in quality more noticeable and stark. If a flight was cancelled (which happens), another later flight (even if the next day) was available. Dealing with the SW employees was also a breeze by comparison to other airlines. And before that flight, you could try stand by -- which while always a gamble did often result in a seat on an even earlier flight. We just had a SW flight (going back home) cancelled, and had to leave 2 days later from a different airport -- and we felt lucky with this outcome.

The final collapse of @SouthwestAir as a beloved Texas brand has finally happened for me today. My husband and 4-year-old were supposed to fly out of DAL today around noon. They were delayed until 10 PM. That was followed by at least 8 departure time changes. The airline eventually put people on the plane at 1 pm (remember, SW originally said 10 PM and told passengers they could cancel) only to tell them the time had been pushed back to 3:30 pm due to a “tarmac delay.” Next, there was an issue in one of the lavatories and the plane went back to the gate. Thankfully, passengers were allowed off the plane while the issue was fixed. My family got back on the plane around 4:30 pm only to be told they couldn’t take off due to missing ground crew. WHAT IS THIS?! No other business would be allowed to operate this way. I have been a loyal customer for years— A-List. As if your recent changes to boarding and cutbacks to benefits/family boarding weren’t bad enough— now this. My baby is on that flight and you’re telling me everything about what kind of business you are by how you treat passengers.

@SouthwestAir You canceled our flight from MIA to STL (?) — no new flight provided and no clear option to get back before Wednesday (requiring us to pay additional hotel, etc). You called the 800 number, and got a busy signal. ????

@nettermike As government run shops the losses will pile up, especially if they are lax on theft. Profit margins for grocery store operations (often with several stores and experienced owners/management) are notoriously low to begin with.

Seattle’s socialist Mayor Katie Wilson has officially declared war on grocery chains. She claims she will unilaterally BAN grocery stores from closing down in her city, arguing that food access is a human right that overrides business decisions. She said : "We cannot allow big grocery chains to close stores at will!" The Plan: If a private business tries to leave due to theft, taxes, or safety concerns... the government will step in. Her allies in the state legislature have even introduced a bill (HB-2313) allowing the city to use Eminent Domain to SEIZE grocery store properties and turn them into government-run shops. Mayor Katie Wilson calls it "protecting the community." Critics call it "holding businesses hostage." Thoughts?

@McMullinRC For STL, perhaps they’d be counting on the countians not making the drive, particularly those west of 270. For vehicle purchases I think the MO use tax would get you for the difference in IL v MO sales tax.

This question captures the pain of working with inexperienced sell-side counsel in M&A very well. Yes, you will spend hours explaining standard provisions. And yes, your client will pay more for it (in both money and heartache).
John Bain@JohnAllenBain

@SellersCounsel I have a related question. If we are representing a client in a transaction opposite someone self-representing with AI support - should my client have to pay for all of the extra time it takes to explain that basic provisions in a guaranty don't mean what they are claiming?

Guy's lawyers draft proposed order, court enters it. Turns out the order included references to fake, AI-generated cases. Guy appeals on the grounds that the court relied on fake cases in its order. Court of appeal agrees that was error, but guy forfeits the claim because it started with him.
