When does Ireland turn its eyes at the US here on our island? They're arming, funding and enabling what's happening in Gaza. Meanwhile today we host a college football game for them and our media cheer it on it on like nothings happening. Dollars over morals.

Why you should listen to me: I’m 36 and have a 6 pack. I can hit a 4 iron 270 yrds. I burn 2,333 calories per day at rest. I have 163 lbs of lean mass and 16% body fat. I work out 1-2x a week. I haven’t supplemented protein in 10 years. I smoke cigars and drink beer and bourbon weekly. I have 3 kids, a wife and a lot of friends. We get dinner and go to parties and dance at bars. I run 3 companies with 350+ employees. I eat ice cream 2 nights a week. I sleep 8 hrs a night. I don’t obsess over food and have never counted calories. I eat junk food and fast food every now and then. I eat a lot of steak and animal meat. I get 70% of my calories from carbs and always have. I think too many people are obsessed with fad diets that aren’t healthy. Like keto and carnivore and veganism and whatever else. Not too many people track the health of their metabolism (the first photo). To give diet advice on the internet you should have to show your BMR or REE.

One of the greatest Russian psyops was convincing millions of crayon-eating pudding brains that they could do their own research. The idea was to break down trust in the West in institutions, education, and experience - and it worked.

@Boenau You dont have to design cycle lanes, just copy ones that work elsewhere, it is always designers egos that get in the way.

Why would we permit the most recent €3 billion data centre in Naas, County Kildare. The planning, financing, development and construction resources that would be needed to build it are equivalent to c6,000+ homes and we are re-directing these resources away from housing.

Wow! Irish incomes are now spread more equally than Sweden and Denmark. Hadn't looked at the data in ages as the people who fret most about inequality don't seem to be talking about it much. Cause for celebration and headline for tomorrow's papers surely. Inequality down in Ireland and in the EU in the decade since Piketty claimed it could only go up.

NATO is one the reasons why small democracies like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania even exist today without being invaded by Russia. It's kinda weird that a lot of Irish people don't understand that
Dan O'Brien@danobrien20

Amazing the volume of vitriol and anti-western bilge that comes from Irish twitter on the subject of Nato. Reminder: Every single one of our neighbours facing onto the north Atlantic are members. Are they all wrong, and Ireland uniquely right, on the benefits and costs of membership?

Appreciate it’s almost 10 years ago, but the law on this then was the same as it is now. The cyclist slowed down and gave priority to the pedestrian, and did nothing wrong. There is no law saying a pedestrian must be allowed to fully complete the crossing, only that they need to be given precedence. The Daily Mail just 100% blames the cyclist, and no mention of the pedestrian that failed to use the crossing with “reasonable dispatch”, and caused the incident entirely. This biased reporting annoys me, and continues today.

In almost every European country, the mantra that the 'twin pillars of our foreign policy are the EU and Nato' is to be heard across almost all of the political spectrum. The suspicion and even hostility to Nato among mainstream politicians in Ireland is really quite bizarre and another indicator of how hard-left thinking is more normal here than elsewhere, particularly when it comes to international affairs.

if you don't own a car, you should be allowed to use a parking-space-sized patch of street near your house for your own purposes - like a picnic bench, washing line, raised bed/planter, etc

Dangerous cycling when I was walking. That’s a big fat fail IMO. Pushing a bike across a crossing has long been defined as walking, I forget the exact case but someone will know it.

Law of necessity. He did it as the motorist was presenting a clear and present danger to the public, and needed to be stopped. Which is further evidenced by the fact the motorist drove into Mikey’s e-bike. As usual, the Telegraph got the facts wrong. It wasn’t a road closure. It was a one way road. The bike didn’t “collide with the car”, Mikey can’t be subject to a “dangerous driving” charge, as was walking, whilst propelling his e-bike. And far far far below the threshold for any dangerous cycling charge. Steve Bird fuelling his usual sensationalist anti-cycling propaganda. What has he got against cyclists?
