Those who decide to volunteer for employee resource groups or staff networks are generally underrepresented folks who struggle to belong. So they join in the hope they can change behaviours but instead they end up giving away free labour at the expense of their career progression

@paulholmespr I appreciate that’s easy for me to say when my income isn’t immediately affected by not doing large scale events of this nature and I do appreciate the challenges. Maybe we don’t platform senior people 🤷🏻‍♂️ @ALeaderLikeMe ‘a underrepresented list for diverse speakers

@paulholmespr It’s a complicated Paul. There are plenty of underrepresented people within PR who could speak at events. But many will feel like they can’t because they’ve never been encouraged to shine. And when opps do arise their leaders often take the spots (based on ALLME experiences)
