Jewish faculty at UCLA recently wrote a letter effectively telling the DOJ that there is no antisemitism problem on campus. UCLA is also where I completed my graduate studies and where I experienced firsthand how dissenting views were treated. Members of the Jewish studies faculty criticized and shamed me for what they called my “Zionist activism.” After I wrote a critical piece about UCLA Hillel’s decision to host the Olive Initiative, a Jewish antizionist group that platformed antizionist libels, I lost part of my graduate funding. But what stayed with me most was not the professional consequence. It was the assumption that, because I am a Zionist, I am incapable of critical thought, that my views were dismissed as “hasbara,” shorthand for being incapable of engaging in serious and scholarly thinking. The result was professional isolation. I was effectively disinvited from academic conferences and made to feel unfit to participate in serious research. Looking back, what is most striking is the degree of power faculty can exert over young scholars. There is a kind of intellectual pressure, often intimidation, that enforces a singular worldview and punishes those who deviate from it. Ironically, the same individuals who accused me of “activism” were often themselves engaged in it — a classic case of accusation in the mirror. Many of my peers disagreed privately but chose to remain silent, knowing that their academic futures depended on it. I never managed to do that. Whether that has been a curse or a blessing, I still don’t know. There is, as @EinatWilf writes, "something stomach churning in watching a Jewish person hand over one more pound of flesh, buckling under the pressure to sell out his people as the price of ever temporary 'acceptance.'" @yudapearl @JFrgatUCLA

Melika Azizi is 18 years old. The regime wants her dead because she isn't afraid of them. While the world slept, they raided her home. While they beat her in Lakan Prison, she held her head high. When the judge handed down a death sentence, she didn't beg for her life—she demanded justice for the fallen. "How can I stay silent?" she asked. We cannot be the ones who stay silent while they try to hang a teenager for her bravery. Silence is a death sentence. Noise is a lifeline. ACT NOW: Save this post. Share it. Tag three friends who will help spread her name. We have to make the cost of executing her higher than the cost of letting her go. #MelikaAzizi #SaveMelika #StopExecutionsInIran #HumanRights

At dinner tonight, someone was arguing, "How are Jews so successful in so many spheres of life. It must be because they're grasping, cheating or trampling others underfoot. Do you really just think they're so superior, Iona?" Floundering a bit, I said, "I do think that." 🧵1/

I am not a highly successful person. Look at me: at 56, I don't earn a high salary, don't own real estate, am no longer married, haven't had any children. But I feel that my failures are my own fault (poor choices) and I've nevertheless been blessed. 5/

In 2024 I posted this for our Israeli sisters in captivity. And now I am posting the same photo again for our Iranian sisters. Different kind of captivity, but ultimately our Iranian sisters are being held ‘captive’ by the regime who funded the Hamas captors of our Israeli sisters. So this time, I am praying for our Iranian sisters and brothers to finally be free of the regime that is destroying the lives of so many. #freeiran #iran #IranMassacre

I stand with Grace Tame, who is an extraordinarily brave young woman. I applaud her stance against war mongers and genocidists. Thank you, Grace, for exposing the zionists and their criminal agenda of murder, torture, and dispossession of the Palestinian people. #AUSPOL @AlboMP

It’s unAustralian to back the genocide-supporting Israeli embassy over Australian of the Year Grace Tame, who turned her abuse into action—empowering women, changing laws & founding a group for child sexual abuse survivors. I stand with her. #auspol

J’ACCUSE @guardian 🚨‼️ I proudly stood today alongside Jews, our allies and @OurFightUk outside the Guardian offices to protest against the truly irresponsible ‘journalism’ from @jonathanliew who described the presence of Gail’s Bakery in Archway as ‘heavy-handed high street aggression’ simply because it was originally founded by an Israeli Jew and that there is a Palestinian Cafe situated around the corner. We seem to be reaching a point where antisemitism is being completely normalised under the guise of anti-Zionism, even within institutions that are supposed to be trustworthy, the fighters for good and to be held in high esteem.  At a time when antisemitic incidents are rising, hate marches are taking over our cities, Jews are daily faced with violent incidents and are seriously considering having to leave the UK, journalists have a responsibility to write with care, not in ways that risk fuelling hostility or intimidation toward Jewish communities. History shows us where this can lead. The Holocaust did not begin with the murder of six million Jews, it began with rhetoric, blood libel, boycotts and the systematic targeting and exclusion of Jewish businesses and people. Words matter THE GUARDIAN AND JONATHAN LIEW SHOULD DO BETTER. @joshxhowie @kurpapatel @PatrickChristys

📣 VIOLENT ANTI-SEMITISM WINS SUPPORT FROM BIRMINGHAM CHARITY AND EVENTBRITE      IMMEDIATE RELEASE Last week a new hate movement aiming to launch in a Birmingham community venue had its meeting cancelled. Sadly, the booking was not withdrawn by The Old Print Works because the organisation holding the meeting — the Anti-Zionist Movement — stated on social media that its founding principles were support for 'armed resistance' and opposition to 'Jewish supremacy'. Nor was the gathering cancelled because the police are now investigating the extremist nature of the group. The cancellation was due to the venue being unable to 'guarantee a safe space...for the event'. Not only did The Old Print Works seem happy to accept a booking from a violent anti-Semitic hate group, but they were then prepared to imply that the real threat was to this same hate group. Despite the first venue pulling out, and a police investigation being underway, a new venue has stepped in to host the extremists — The Moseley Exchange. In addition, the ticketing platform Eventbrite is still happy to promote the event. Mark Birbeck, Our Fight director said: "It is sad for the people of Birmingham that after the Maccabi Tel Aviv ban, the city is playing host to another story with anti-Semitism at its core. We do not believe that the extremist Anti-Zionist Movement represents the ordinary people of Birmingham, and neither do we feel that organisations such as The Old Print Works or Moseley Community Development Trust — both of whom have shown support for AZM — reflect this great city's values." "As anti-Semitism is exploding across the globe, charities, venues and platforms need to ask themselves whether they should be playing host to groups like AZM that champion violence against Jews. We will continue to draw attention to the hypocrisy of those who enable such bigotry, as well as the extremists themselves." @BlondShelley @guardian @OurFightUk @jonathanliew Understand the point but I urge you to expressly name antizionism as the new incarnation of Jew hatred. We have to name it and stigmatise it so that it becomes as socially unacceptable as antisemitism. Otherwise it will continue to be misdiagnosed as good faith social activism.

If you read the signs it says ‘Are we really here again’. As in..are we back in the same position as Nazi Germany. I also mentioned that the Holocaust didnt begin with the murder of 6 million Jews but the boycotting, vandalism and then shutting down of Jewish businesses. Cant get more precise than that.

A devastating night. Started with sirens from the Jewish neighborhoods and then a sound that I have never heard before. Like a rolling thunder. Following by explosions that have shaken the house. Clusters or debris fell in few locations in the area, including a deadly one in Beit Awwa which is not that far from here, killing 4 innocent women and injured many more. God please protect the innocents. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 💔💔💔💔💔💔

I am currently dating a lovely lady. She lives in Moldova. I had never heard of Moldova. Looks a lovely place. I am saving some dough to go visit her, hopefully in a few months. I met her on the internet. However, her internet connection is unreliable and slow so we cannot use video chat. That is fine by me. I sent her some money to by a better tablet, one where she can use 5G. So things are looking good.

We are now living in the antizionism era. This is a word that is easily defined, easily explained, and never to be confused with “anti-Zionism” – a political conversation that died in concentration camps, only to be exhumed as a propagandistic sledgehammer by antizionists. Antizionism is an ideology, or a lens through which we see the world. The lens comes complete with axiomata: Israel is genocidal, apartheid, settler colonial, and delights in the killing of children. It is uniquely evil and must be eliminated. Criticism of Israel’s actions are then retroactively fitted to this ideology to make eliminationism feel like a moral response to the Arab-Israeli conflict. australianjewishnews.com/making-this-ro…
