It's been awhile since I've done a forecast. Classic summer storms are possible this afternoon into the evening. Gusty outflow winds and lightning will be the main hazard with any strong storm that forms. Not everyone will see rain. Coverage is about 30%-50%. ⛈️ #txwx

@PaxBiggs The GFS dries soils too quickly in non-arid climates, leading to ridiculously high temperatures and overmixing in summer.

GFS showing 30° dewpoints during this period. So I mean yeah if we get 30° dews in mid July then this will verify, but I’m guessing this is some sort of issue with this GFS run

Moderate risk for parts of Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, this will include the potential for a Derecho with winds up to 100 mph. There is also a chance for a tornado or two, particularly across Missouri and Arkansas. A PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Severe Thunderstorm Watch has also been issued to highlight the significant wind threat. The watch covers parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana.
