In this article, we highlight the scope and need for Purposeful SDM: ➡️ SDM captures the collaborative conversations between patients and clinicians—whether it’s navigating tough choices, resolving conflicting views, or making sense of care in challenging situations. #SharedDecisionMaking ➡️ We explore the role of SDM in the era of #PrecisionOncology from screening to treatment related decision-making, toxicity management, consideration of clinical trials and end-of-life related decisions ➡️ Clinicians already do adapt their approach to decision making for their patients- but it's Purposeful SDM, where the type of SDM is intentionally matched to the clinical moment, that reveals the true power of those efforts.
