@slimschadey161 @MidwestGolfJake @golfshadowridge Yes! @AVAgolfs and I did the day we left YLW for Brazil. I liked it.

@jonostrower If you need more, my daughter is selling them. Just DM me your order and I can deliver them to you at the Museum of Flight. 😂

@BarstoolBigCat we need to make this happen.

@JTTsteve @ndarmour @oneflyerguy1993 @OMD_SkyDog @ndarmour I’ll never forget this! Right before my 21st birthday in CYS in the EMB-120 doing V1 cuts in the airplane. What a different world that was.

@ndarmour @oneflyerguy1993 @OMD_SkyDog @AVAgolfs No way! That’s awesome! He was about 9 years old back then 😂

.@OMD_SkyDog practicing a V1 cut in our Westwind II today. There’s only one 1124 sim in the world - so we do our training in the actual plane!
A V1 cut is an engine failure after V1 (takeoff decision speed). It means we’re past the point where a rejected takeoff is safe or possible, therefore we must take-off on the remaining good engine.
All pilots practice V1 cuts on large multiengine aircraft, but usually in a simulator. We do it as part of every recurrent Checkride on the big jets, but it’s extra trippy doing it for real!
That said, the “failure” is really just one engine being pulled back to idle thrust, so it’s available IF necessary.
Notice - it’s barely even an event in the hands of a skilled professional pilot. Rudder is applied to the side of the good engine, directional control is maintained, and the aircraft is rotated into a climb at V2 while the non-flying pilot retracts the gear and the flaps.
The “issue” and subsequent troubleshooting/shutdown procedures are delayed until the aircraft is at a safe altitude.

Awesome day today! My airplane obsessed son, Austin, got an intro flight. (I would’ve liked to do it but haven’t flown a single engine since 2007 😂) He had a great instructor that was patient and let him fly most of the flight. I think he’s hooked!

@OMD_SkyDog @mhp_guy Or you can run a half marathon, ragnars and other races just like myself post having kids and it’s even more rewarding. I can’t attest to grandchildren like @OMD_SkyDog, but having kids is the most challenging and rewarding things you can do in life.

There's been a resurgence of people doing hard things:
Tough mudders
Ultra marathons
Extended fasts
At the same time, the birth rate peaked in '07 & has been dropping ever since. Below replacement levels.
If you CHOOSE to not have kids but like doing hard things I have some great news for you:
Having kids is really, really hard, too, but also 1,000x more rewarding than crossing a finish line.
You can do it! And you should. And no, you'll never feel ready. That's ok.

The second plane flown by @AVAgolfs and @aidan_allen101 had the SELCAL code: FK-ER. 🤣
Margate City, NJ 🇺🇸 English

I often associate the SELCAL code with 2 words, and that becomes the aircraft nickname. 😂
Steve Giordano@SteveNomadic
SELCAL stands for “selective calling”. With SELCAL each aircraft is assigned a 4 Letter code (ie: AB-CD). Each letter corresponds to a tone which are broadcast over HF. Sounds like a touchtone phone. The SELCAL decoder measures the phase between each tone and activates a chime and light once the appropriate code is broadcast. Very simple tech.

@JTTsteve @bradbruchs The grint pro membership is a solid choice.👌🤌😂

For those not familiar with WeChat (i.e. people that haven’t been to China) - be advised we DON’T want this here. In China, WeChat is used to buy things, fill out mandatory government documents, basically everything. It’s the ultimate big-brother app. You literally cannot buy fast food at the airport in China without a WeChat account unless you have RMB (cash) - and some places don’t even accept that! You also can’t fill out your health declaration without WeChat to depart the country!

With the finishing touch now in place from @Aerotiques - my home office renovation is now finished! 100% of the design credit goes to @AveryGiordano - a true master. I’ll be honest, I resisted this for a while. I thought I preferred working in a junk heap, but I was wrong!

What a trip this was with @JTTsteve. No hot ovens and inedible food. Nearly froze to death with a pack that got stuck full cold on our last leg after departure and the most chaotic Covid protocols ever in CMB. We will always have a story to tell on this one!
Steve Giordano@SteveNomadic
My time/dist record is 30,147 NM in 5 days, and AKL-BNE-DRW-CGK-CMB-AUH-CAI-BBU legs were in a 737-300F with a single 6 hour overnight in CMB during early Covid. Crew of 2 with @AVAgolfs

@BarstoolBigCat He’s back @BarstoolBigCat. Let’s just hope he takes an Uber anywhere he needs to go after the event so he can win the masters this year.

@Ameriflight @iflyspokane 3200 hrs in the EMB-120. The most fun airplane I’ve ever flown.
