@vrydenker Jeremiah 31:29 and Ezekiel 18:2 - "The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and children's teeth are set on edge" 🙄

The South African government published draft regulations that would criminalize self-custody of Bitcoin. Border agents could demand your private keys. Treasury could force you to sell your Bitcoin back to rand. All holdings must be declared within 30 days. This happened by ministerial decree without a parliamentary vote.
Murray Rothbard described the state as nothing more than a gang of thieves writ large, legitimized through the mythology of democratic consent. South Africa's National Treasury demonstrates this perfectly. They are using a 93-year-old law from 1933 to regulate technology that didn't exist until 2009, overriding court rulings that said crypto assets fall outside exchange controls. The rand has lost 90% of its value in thirty years, and now they want to trap you inside their sinking currency.
They are doing this because of what economists call the Impossible Trinity. Any government can only maintain two of three things: stable exchange rates, free capital movement, or independent monetary policy. South Africa chose capital controls plus monetary independence, sacrificing your freedom to move money. Bitcoin breaks that equation. When you can custody your own wealth outside their system, their capital controls become meaningless.
Eleven million South Africans remain unbanked. For them, self-custodied Bitcoin is their bank. The same government claiming to care about financial inclusion just moved to criminalize the only viable savings technology these people can access. Bastiat would recognize the paradox: what is seen is "investor protection," what is unseen is the destruction of the only escape route from monetary theft.

So when are we getting our refunds?

We’ve had one victory against abuse of power or executive overreach - with @Our_DA learning their @CityofCT is not a law unto themselves & their Mayor is not a king. The Western Cape High Court found their attempt to disguise taxes as service tariffs unlawful. Reminder: we’re still await the Gauteng High Court to decide on their unlawful electricity tariffs for 2022, 2023 & 2024. This is an extract from NERSA’s assessment of the CoCT’s 2025/26 tariff application:

@AfricaFirsts What happened to the "Kaftan"? That was what the wall or fence use to be called in the 80s. Read it was elaborate and well-constructed. Now the taxpayer is redoing it again. Asking a friend.

In Japan, some trees are not simply cut down when construction reaches them.
Using a careful transplanting method linked to nemawashi, workers prepare the roots, bind the root ball, and move the tree to a new location instead. The process can take months of planning, because the goal is not just to move the tree — but to keep it alive.
A powerful reminder that progress does not always have to begin with cutting something down.

Hilda a alors 11 ans.

“The High Court judgment on the City of Cape Town’s property-value-based fixed charges deserves far more attention than it is getting.
For me, the most disturbing part is not only that the charges were declared unlawful and invalid. It is that residents appear to have paid them month after month, yet there is no refund mechanism in the order.
The City loses in law, but keeps the loot already collected.
I’ve written a full piece on why this matters, not just as a tariff issue, but as a warning about municipal overreach, property-based extraction, and the danger of treating ratepayers as an open cheque book”

Thought-Controlled Robotics is now very real and it's happening with Neuralink
A paralyzed Neuralink patient, Alex Conley, just controlled a robotic arm using only his thoughts - then piloted a drone with his mind
Meanwhile, another patient, Jon L. Noble, is now playing World of Warcraft hands-free using only brain signals
Two years ago, this was pure science fiction
Today, it’s happening in clinical trials
Neuralink not just restoring independence, it’s also unlocking new dimensions of human capability
Patients who were once completely paralyzed are now interacting with the physical and digital world using nothing but their thoughts
The future is not coming. It’s already here
