BREAKING: Arizona State is finalizing a five-year deal with Saint Mary's Randy Bennett to make him the Sun Devils' next head coach, sources told me and @PeteThamel. Bennett is an Arizona native who has led Saint Mary's to 12 NCAA tournament appearances since taking over in 2001.

Well, this is not an encouraging trend for Cinderellas. ... The NCAA tournament went to 64 teams in 1985. Only 7 times have the 13-14-15 seeds all gone winless in the first round. It's now happened two years in a row (for the first time).

@BenVerlander This could be much greater when the WBC does not accept fake teams like Italy-USA-B (only one player born in Italy), and referees only from the USA, even in USA games. This is not acceptable in any serious international tournament. This will keep baseball out of Olympic Games. 😬
