Today we remember Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who was born one hundred years ago, #onthisday in 1926.
As a royal church, Westminster Abbey had a special relationship with the Queen. Over the course of her life, she came here often for state occasions and national services, and some of the most important moments of her life took place here.

@BeverlyHallberg I’m on the elder millennial side, raised in the Pacific Northwest, and homeschooled K-12, and all of this, yes.

I’m on the tail end of Gen X and grew up near San Francisco, though in a very conservative circle.
Education for women was encouraged, including college. Marriage and motherhood weren’t discouraged; they were seen as a natural part of life—something expected to happen, much as it had for our parents.
While there has certainly been a problematic “you can do it all” message, I don’t see women remaining unmarried because society told them men and motherhood were bad.
It seems we’re dealing with a different set of cultural problems.
