@stephen_richer @EricKleefeld @RepTiffany Unable to persuade more than 30% of America's most ignorant and hateful people- the right relies on disinformation and gaming the system. By attacking the media, the voting system, and science- they are working to replace reality & facts with their made-up grievance narratives.

This is exactly the situation Beijing is working to create: where the local farmers and travel industry people are dependent on it, and thus blame the DPP. For Beijing it helps that heads of industry orgs tend to be blue, one of the ways the KMT keeps its grip on local power.
TaiwanPlus News@taiwanplusnews

From travel agents to farmers, Taiwan’s industries say their livelihoods depend on easing cross-strait tensions. But as Beijing attaches political strings to new trade incentives, Taipei is treading carefully to ensure national security.

I told @jamespomfret that China's information warfare against Taiwan “creates an environment in which China can more easily win support, because its strategy really is to lower morale, instill a sense of psychological despair, convince people they have no future in being autonomous and their best option is to join up with China” reuters.com/world/china/ch…

Reporter: Did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ? Trump: It wasn't a depiction. I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor. And had to do with red cross as a red cross worker, which we support and only the fake news could come up with that one.

Wait... didn't a party leader from the other party visit an absolute leader heading a state with poor human rights?
Paul Huang@PaulHuangReport

President @ChingteLai will visit Eswatini on April 22, one of Taiwan's few remaining diplomatic allies that recognize ROC. Lai's 2nd official trip to allies. [Un]ironically, Eswatini is an absolute monarchy with poor human rights. So much for DPP's "values-based diplomacy".

@ForeignPolicy uhhhh lolol if they actually "saw it as a tragedy" then they wouldn't threaten war lol, it's literally only a conflict because they can't accept the fact that they've never had Taiwan before and don't need it.

@NikkeiAsia As a Taiwanese citizen, I disagree with her recent actions, which should be understood as ONLY one political perspective rather than the consensus of Taiwanese society. Democracy, freedom, and self-determination continue to define our country.

This Taiwanese CCP supporter Yuya Chen did a 180 at around the same time as Angelica Oung and 館長 (陳之漢) did. Is that just a coincidence? Or something happened behind the scenes in that timeframe? 🤔

I just checked out a few X posts from this Taiwanese CCP supporter Yuya Chen. Appalling. Fiendish. He supports Deng Xiaoping’s crackdown on the Tiananmen Square protests and the massacre in 1989. He says Uyghur genocide never happened. He needs a beautiful Uyghur wife. 👇🏻

This is a good example of how pro-PRC types don't understand Taiwan at all. The "structural shifts" in the Diplomat piece date back over a century, only in the last three decades has solid survey data on them become available. But the data was always out there:

I have a friend who’ve decided not to pay attention to any Taiwan related news any more because it is a waste of time. I tend to agree now. Below is a perfect example. 1. Most people don’t understand public opinion shifts so it’s totally unreliable to think about policies.

@chucktodd @RpsAgainstTrump Chuck Todd dives in front of trump to take the bullet screaming 'Both Sides!' Was Biden vindicated in offering pardons? Did Trump's doj go after every person who was just doing their job in the doj? How about Leticia James? Biden protected his people. Trump protects himself.

Perhaps Trump would have done this regardless, but let’s not forget Biden created this pre-emptive pardon precedent. The only good news that might come out of this pardon corruption: we will get a bipartisan supported Constitutional amendment to create a Congressional nullification process for all presidential pardons.
Republicans against Trump@RpsAgainstTrump

BREAKING: Trump promises mass pardons for his staff before leaving office. WSJ reports that in a recent meeting, Trump said he would pardon those “within 200 feet of the Oval Office.”

@Teoyaomiquu Orban is also a puppet of Xi (CCP)- helping Chinese products be 'assembled in Hungary' as a Trojan horse to avoid EU regulations. Supporting Orban helps the CCP & undermines the EU-both Putin's goals- now done with Trump's blessing. Orban-Putin-Trump-Xi: the real axis of evil

Can someone explain what's the interest of the USA in Hungary? Orban is a pro russian politician, Orban is demanding that Hungary buys only Russian energy products, refusing to diversify and buy American ones. It's like everything against American interests.

Is it true that "Taiwan has been a part of China since ancient times", as Beijing often claims? No, not at all. Here are some inconvenient facts which most people don't know. I invite the swarm of CCP trolls to try to unpick them. ✅ FACT: Before 1624, Taiwan was inhabited by indigenous Malay-Austronesian populations with no official Chinese administrative presence. ✅ FACT: The Dutch established formal administrative control over Taiwan in 1624, which was recognised by Ming Dynasty representatives as being "beyond [Chinese] territory." The Dutch found no evidence of Chinese administrative control. ✅ FACT: In 1662, the Ming loyalist Koxinga expelled the Dutch after himself being expelled from the mainland. He founded an independent kingdom, seeking to reestablish Ming rule. But the Ming Dynasty itself had already collapsed. This was not rule by "China". ✅ FACT: From 1683 to 1887, Taiwan was managed as a province of Fujien; but Emperor Kangxi considered Taiwan beyond his domain. Indeed, he said as much: ‘Taiwan is outside our empire and of no great consequence.’ There were popular revolts throughout this period. ✅ FACT: Taiwan was formally administered as a province of China for eight years, from 1887 until it was ceded to Japan in 1895. This is the only such period. Shorter than the Dutch. ✅ FACT: Following the 1895 Treaty of Shimonoseki, the Qing Empire ceded Taiwan to Japan "in perpetuity". ✅ FACT: Local leaders briefly declared an independent Formosa Republic in 1895 to resist Japanese rule, but the Japanese shut this down within five months. ✅ FACT: Between 1926 and 1942, both the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Kuomintang (KMT) supported independence for Taiwan, viewing it similarly to Korea (as an essential part of an anti-Japanese military strategy). ✅ FACT: The CCP changed its mind. After WW2, the party coalesced around an effort to reclaim "lost territories". In 1943 Cairo and 1945 Potsdam declarations were issued which, while not formal treaties, maintained that "all the territories Japan has stolen from the Chinese, such as Manchuria, Formosa (Taiwan), and the Pescadores, shall be restored to the Republic of China". The 1951 San Francisco Peace Treaty left Taiwan’s legal status "undetermined." ✅ FACT: The People's Republic of China (established 1949) has never, in any capacity, exercised control over Taiwan. As to the territorial claim of what constitutes "China", worthy of note is the highly variable claims to territory (not to mention autonomy and governance structures) over even the past 150 years. See below.
