On this day 4 years ago, multiple tornadoes touched down across northern Texas including this red dusty one near Crowell, that nearly sucked up my drone. This powerful storm produced tornadoes off to the west prior to Crowell, and again after dark, east of Crowell. The after dark tornado caused storm chasers some problems with its deviant motion. After the storm passed by me, sweeping my drone along with it, I spent a half hour running through a mesquite field and was able to track the drone down around a 1/2 mile from original launch point.

Weather Front is sick and I’ve matched the radar to RadarScope as closely as I can but I still have to use RadarScope when chasing. I have all this chasing data input in my brain and can catch tiny things on RadarScope better visually than WF

On this day 2 years ago, I intercepted the most insane tornado I've ever heard. It produced the spookiest suction sounds in the little town of Westmoreland, Kansas.

TL;DR: THANK YOU! When I was a kid, I watched 'Twister' on TV with my dad for the first time in my life. Ever since then, I’ve been fascinated by tornadoes and severe weather. I also love thunderstorms! In 2024, I watched 'Twisters' at the movie theater with my dad - and it was just like back in the day. Last year, I figured out that there are actually storm chasers who stream the whole thing live online on Youtube! How cool is that!? Ever since then, I’ve been trying to catch every single stream. @rabbit_stew_ @theScantman @aaronjayjack @accuweather It was a little better yesterday. Funny how when you’re in the notch you get a lot better chasing behavior. Almost as if the better more experienced chasers are usually the ones that know how to maneuver without destroying the flow of traffic. Also helped having multiple targets
