@realNathanCheng Yeah you're in Tokyo, one of the most overworked places on the planet. Go out into the rural areas of Japan.

Update: Wow. It appears many Japanese people aren’t interested in living longer or even an average lifespan.
I’ve done this survey in five different countries and never have I heard so many people say they want to live LESS than the average life expectancy (even in good health!)

@stephenprice100 This is a good idea, I'll add in a section on how to test the theory.

@AaronLongevity Wow! Learned a lot here.
Curious how one could test the hypothesis of evolution being longitudinally oriented instead of horizontally oriented
It's an interesting theory, how would we collect evidence on either side?

I think I derived the fundamental nature of life, aging, and mortality. It's pretty heavy biology but I'd appreciate comments by anyone who understands it.

@GRGoodlett I think I remember that name, but because he had other good ideas. This particular paper/idea you linked doesn't explain how species in seemingly similar 'damage accumulating' situations have vastly different lifespans.

@AaronLongevity Have you read Dr Bret Weinstein’s Reserve capacity hypothesis? Suggests tissue regeneration is limited by tumor suppressor mechanisms that ultimately result in senescence pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11909679/

@BarardoD I'll think about this and add a section on it, thanks!
