Ssemujju Kassim was attacked by robbers on July 7th. He survived brain surgery at Mulago Hospital but can't speak or walk. Now at Mengo Hospital he needs physiotherapy yet bills have drained everything. Any donation helps him heal and return to his loved ones.

Have you realized that all the schools involved in these bus accidents have students from Buganda, it looks like someone is fighting hard to reduce the population of children in the region. Osobola okuntereza woba olinayo region endala eyakosedwa.

Many horrific things that happen in Uganda can be seen coming. But they often have to first happen, and authorities come out as if they’re purely accidents. ~ A glaring hole on the road will be ignored, hitting cars everyday, until it causes a terrible accident, then it is immediately filled as if it has just been discovered! Meanwhile, other huge potholes nearby are still ignored. Someone is waiting for a huge budget, or a shock. ~ Predatory practices will go on in schools, exploiting parents in development fees, inflated trip fees that motivate schools to organise regular pointless trips, exaggerated material demands, unregulated school fees increments, etc. Corporal punishment will continue in schools. The concerned ministry will look on. Until someone’s sick child is caned to death! Then they start issuing statements and new half-thought directives, which they soon ignore (after the public has gone quiet). ~ Corruption by traffic officers will be officially known and tolerated. Traffic officers will let DMCs operate and endanger passengers and other road users, for as long as they can bribe. They’ll overspeed and overload. Until a terrible accident happens and, acting like they’re shocked it happened, they come out with new performative traffic operations - which they soon abandon, back to normal corruption. ~ Torture of political opponents will go on unabated. We will even find good vocabulary to justify or ignore it. The judiciary will join the torturers. Until a prominent person dies in their hands - then we will come out like visitors who never expected it to happen. We will act very shocked and concerned, including the boneheads that were cheering - all shaking their wasted heads. Yet, when there is no major shock amidst the same things brewing everyday, we operate as if all is normal. We will, instead, persecute those who speak about the glaring signs. We will present them as the problem - defamation, agents of imperialists and homosexuals, hooligans, etc. Waiting for another moment to pretend to be shocked and sad, when disaster strikes from the very things they’re persecuted for speaking about. Many of the disasters and ‘shocks’ we witness are nothing but outcomes of what we have allowed to die in our time. It is not only government though, but also many of us individuals that have either chosen silence, benefitting from the mess, and abdicating our individual responsibilities for a better society. And, in this direction, it needs no doomsayer to tell that much worse is yet to happen. Until we choose to sober up and build a sensible country that makes all of us safe and proud. No one is safe in a broken country. May the little innocent souls rest in peace, and may the broken parents find consolation in this very difficult time.

Recommendations for the Ugandan Ministry of Education to Consider All schools should start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. If schools must continue closing at 5:00 p.m., then no homework should be assigned to students from Monday to Friday. There should be no holiday homework during the first- and second-term holidays. These three weeks should be designated as rest periods, with every student required to return to school with a presentation on what they learned independently during the holidays. Every school must implement an approved mental health awareness program. All school requirements must be included in the school fees structure. Any other additional fees should be considered optional and not mandatory for parents to pay. What have i missed?

TRAVEL ADVISORIES UGANDANS - SOME COMMON SENSE Am amazed at SOME Ugandans reasoning whenever topics like the one below comes up. SOME Ugandans believe that this affects government and not us all which shocks me. LEARN THIS Governments all over the world never run out of money, if citizens don’t pay enough taxes due to lack of economic activities, they borrow against the future of its citizens and spend now. Travel advisories are TRADE BARRIERS, governments hardly trade, they tax traders who are you and me. When I take risks and trade, positively affects me and the people I support or employ then government taxes me. If Uganda advised its citizens against Kenya for example, trade with Kenya would stop because free movement means movement of money and resources and that enhances economic growth. America is a very powerful nation and this isn’t subject to discussion especially by citizens of a less developed country, basically our opinion means almost nothing to them. When they advise against Uganda, many nations are compelled to do the same, when they said to enter America as a Ugandan, spend 21 days in a country that isn’t advised against, many countries did the same. When Americans who many have money come to Uganda, they hire transport services from common man, that common man buys vegetables from mama mbooga, they support local shops, pay rent, school fees to schools, visit fuel stations etc. When say SERENA HOTEL is full, they 300 suppliers who are all businesses employing Ugandans in 1000s make money and that money finds its way into the communities and yes, government will also earn. Uganda for example is buying aero planes from an American company Boeing worth usd 1bn also borrowed by the way, it’s important that we earn from them as well and tourism and other basic trade done by Ugandans is very important. Us who mainly speak good English without ability to manufacture anything of significance, we need them tourists since we can atleast apply ourselves, Try Balance trade through that. Waking up and yapping daily won’t save us, we need to reason well. We all acknowledge, we are a family with many problems amidst us, we can’t say let no one deal with any of us as a family, let’s all die of poverty, that is backwardness. CONCLUSION Saying we deserve being on that list is pure self HATE!

Oh, good to know all is well. I remembered how you would write paragraphs whenever the SFRC chairperson @SenatorRisch raised the issue of the US “reviewing relations” with Uganda over the conduct and actions of CDF Kainerugaba, or the pledge to engage the US government over the visa rules issued in Jan but now silent over the level4 travel advisory.

I don’t want to be a stalker but, a few meters from my restaurant table is Justice Ogoola, an accomplished judge, poet and advocate of justice. I feel like going to give him a big hug with a statement; “Thank you for your diligent and nationalistic service.” Which other justice receives similar flowers?
