I wish people would learn from this. This war served NO ONE. Iran has been destroyed. The US has been humbled. Israel has been bombed and lost support in the US. The Gulf States have been damaged. The global economy has been hit. Who needed this? War is never the answer.

We must not allow the Iran war to turn communities against each other here in the States. I have worried from the start that this conflict could become a recruiting sergeant for radical groups. There is absolutely zero justification or excuse for attacking a synagogue.

This is mindless hate. Muslim Americans are cops, doctors, nurses, teachers, bankers, bricklayers, mothers, fathers, neighbors, mayors, and more. Islamophobic hate like this is fundamentally un-American and we must confront and overcome it whenever it rears its ugly head.

Many of us loathe our respective governments. And yet we would not want a foreign power to bomb our country. This should not be hard to understand.

This footage of Iranian skies this morning, blackened by US-Israeli strikes on oil depots, is one of the most haunting images of the last three years. What a world we have made. What a world we continue to choose as it descends.

This image of rows of freshly dug graves for schoolgirls and their teachers is heavy for humanity. Each grave represents a child who should have been safe in a classroom, a future interrupted, a family changed forever. My father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., warned that war robs us of both the present and the promise of tomorrow. When children become casualties of conflict, we must confront the moral failure at the heart of violence. Nonviolence is not naive in moments like this. It is necessary. It calls us to protect innocent life, to restrain the impulse toward destruction, and to pursue justice without sacrificing our humanity. In our shared World House, the loss of these girls is not distant. It is a wound to us all. #MLK #Nonviolence #Peace #ProtectChildren

as creatives/ marketers, it feels like we've never been more replaceable. with every new content pipeline and social media tool dropping, why do you even need a person in the loop? ai can recreate the outputs. music, art, design, "a story", but it can't comprehend the intention behind them. the hardships of building a company, the pivots, the team composition, the identity crises. ai can recap that at face value. it can't live it. and that's what real storytelling actually is. not just producing content, but comprehending the human experience and unifying a company's culture around it. a story runs through every high, every low, every iteration of who you are as a brand. this is also where marketing and storytelling diverge. marketing learns psychology hacks to trigger desire and sell a product. storytelling doesn't hack anything, it appeals to emotions and values your audience already has. so in a world where every marketer is trying to sell an authentic story, be a storyteller who actually resonates with the one you're telling.
Natalie Sportelli@N_Sportelli

The hot new job at tech companies is leading "storytelling." The term doubled on LinkedIn job posts in the U.S since last year. The WSJ writes: "Compliance technology firm Vanta this month began hiring for a head of storytelling, offering a salary of up to $274,000." "Productivity app Notion recently merged its communications, social media and influencer functions into one 10-person, so-called storytelling team." "Financial technology brand Chime last month began hiring for a director of corporate editorial and storytelling—its first storyteller opening." As a former reporter and career-long content/brand leader, I have some thoughts! These examples point to a shift in internal marketing orgs that reflect a shrinking earned media landscape and an endless, growing number of distribution channels to share and own your narrative, i.e. "going direct." It's not entirely editorial, or events, or PR, or marketing. It's how all these pieces work together and how they contribute to the bigger picture - your story! I joke with my reporter friends that they are infinitely hireable if they ever left journalism. Why? Because we are trained to ask: "So what? Why should readers care? What does it mean for them?" To me, that's a big nuance in this conversation. Because... *Storytelling is a human act and it's a service.* Super interested to watch what happens here. Are you long/short on this role?

Ahmed, you are an Australian hero. You put yourself at risk to save others, running towards danger on Bondi Beach and disarming a terrorist. In the worst of times, we see the best of Australians. And that's exactly what we saw on Sunday night. On behalf of every Australian, I say thank you.

London is stunning this time of the year. From the Wren churches to the street decorations to the shops. The yanks spreading lies about it failing to celebrate Christmas are simply upset that their country is a business that got out of hand (the Virginia company). Heritage.
