At the family run Kingfisher Farm Shop, The Earl helped pick fresh watercress before joining the Head Chef from the neighbouring Abinger Cookery School, to use it to prepare a delicious pesto.

His Royal Highness also heard from employees who have adapted their work during to serve their community and customers this year. The Earl met Netty MacKay who has delivered vegetable boxes and flowers in Kingfisher’s new electric van throughout lockdown.

Today the Earl of Wessex visited Kingfisher Farm Shop in Abinger Hammer, Surrey, ahead of #SurreyDay on the 1st May, led by @VisitSurrey. Surrey Day, which is now in its third year, is a celebration of the County as a great place to live, work and visit.

In 1988 milk was 28p a pint. Today it’s £1.15 for 2L, which equates to approx 4pts. In 33 years, milk has gone up precisely THREE PENCE... Meanwhile the production costs of milk have gone up with inflation. Can we just think about that for a moment? #dairy #farming #agriculture

We’re putting a few things in place & I’ll make inquiries to farm shop. my frustration is, they want to do right thing, but when Tesco delivery is a month away, they may be tempted to go out, also because they don’t want to be a burden to others. x

💖 parents 83yrs, with heart probs @tesco delivery not avail for 26 days even though they’re told 2 self isolate. Thought supermarkets to give some priority slots to people ordered to stayhome if older & poorly? TESCO PLEASE HELP & any RT please folks until Tesco reply😢 💔
