@__pingfong @jukestep123 @deteccphilippe Well, let’s take this one at a time: I did not authorise it, as I don’t play their garbage. Malware does not require “spread”. You don’t think there can be data loss as their systems takes actions preventing your computer from running? Just something to think over

@AbsinthiumVerit @jukestep123 @deteccphilippe You consented to use that AntiCheat. No one is forcing anyone to install their game. > Malware does unauthorized actions, you gave authorization when you installed their game. > It does not spread from one machine to another > It does not delete you data or harm your system.

Okay cheaters, nothing is bricked. Here's a step-by-step guide to cheat in other games with your favorite $6000 cheat device. 1) Turn off IOMMU the same way you enabled it. Great psyop btw, I've never seen fiction move so much faster than fact.

@FontJaded @mane_tank No, I just see zero value in arguing with you. I don’t care. IE, your response makes it very clear you are NOT going to go look for yourself, as YOU don’t actually care what the truth is. I didn’t say take my word for it, I said go educate yourself. Or don’t, it’s ok! lol.

@AbsinthiumVerit @mane_tank Ah yes, being told it's your responsibility to provide evidence for your argument and responding with the ol' classic of "no u". Be sure not to trip on your way out, I know there's egg on your eyes.

As an IRL lawyer, yesterday's events had me giggling every time I read posts that claimed the terms of service are not legally binding as if clicking "I Agree" meant nothing

@FontJaded @mane_tank :) I’ll take the “look at the poster better”. As for the rest of it…..no. You said something stupid and obviously wrong. That’s ok, you just finished saying you’re not a lawyer, so you don’t need to be knowledgeable on the subject anyway. You, again, have a great day.

@AbsinthiumVerit @mane_tank I aint a lawyer, it's the other guy. Work on your reading comprehension. Additionally, it's not my obligation to find supporting information for YOUR purposes. Burden's on you. For someone trying to mock a lawyer you sure are REALLY bad at it.

@__pingfong @jukestep123 @deteccphilippe Indeed. If you take a look definitionally, you’ll note malware is defined by what effect it has on a system, not who designed it. So. Does it cause operational harm to the system? Why, yes. Almost like…….it’s malware. Weird how hard that concept is to grasp for some.

@FontJaded @mane_tank Are you sure you’re a real irl lawyer? You seem ill prepared if you can’t find any precedent that doesn’t support your claim. I’m not saying it’s a “solved” problem, but your statement treats it as such, and seems…..uselessly narrow. Ah well, have a good day anyway.

@AbsinthiumVerit @mane_tank You mean the precedent where anyone who has ever tried to sue an MMO company over banning them for violating ToS failed and they never got their game or sub money back? Yeah, lots of precedent there actually.

@phoenix_edo @SwooshyCueb @CEOofFuggy You’re missing the point. You don’t trust the client…..meaning validation happens on the server, not the client. IE, it doesn’t matter what the client claims, as…..we don’t believe the client. I am glad I don’t play these games

@SwooshyCueb @CEOofFuggy You are making my point tho? You can never trust a client, and just because you think you closed all DMA holes doesn't mean you know of all of them, so better close that door before it can be opened? How is that such a hard concept to grasp?

@Peach_Fightr Look, someone cheated in a video game, so of course Riot needs to punish them and add toxic heavy metals to the environment to teach them a lesson. Small price to pay!

@gooseabuser1 @ogisadaDMA No, and cheaters can be back at it within minutes. The more I read about this, the more boggled I am. The chance of ruining legitimate and important data vs the actual prevention of cheating in any meaningful way seems…..out of sync.

Game: Valorant AC: Vanguard (VGK) Today’s Vanguard anti-cheat update blocked the majority of DMA firmwares using SATA/NVMe. VGK suddenly triggered an IOMMU restart warning in-game, after which the DMA firmware becomes completely unusable, even without the game running or after uninstalling Vanguard. Only fix is a full OS reinstall. It’s using IOMMU to create read blocks, which permanently breaks the majority of almost all SATA/NVMe firmwares once triggered. Even the advanced H2-board got affected. Confirmed Firmware Block wave by @ItsGamerDoc

@ogisadaDMA So, 25~ minutes to reinstall for cheaters to be back at it, while potentially destroying legitimate non-valorant data? Very interesting. I’ll be extremely interested to see what comes of this

@xwarockx3 @ogisadaDMA I don’t play the game, I don’t install games with this kind of access, I very rarely play ‘match’ style games, and I have zero interest in “pwning” other players hard enough to cheat, but this is bullshit and an excellent reason to be concerned……even if, you, “don’t cheat”.

@SiRiUSCoOp @TheDoomDominion No? They are not comparable. And my complaint is the very well documented cases of AI hallucinations. It isn’t consistent, but I have had AI, to a specific, and closed question, give me factually wrong information. If I trusted that information, it would have soiled my work.

because I know how to use it like a tool and don't try talk to it like a human being with all the answers. if you ask it specific questions you can get specific answers, and it can 10x your productivity. he used it to make dark theme switching on unix. that code is so basic that the AI and the human will write it identically. He made a mistake before push, and it was immediately fixed with a second push, but they try to use that to say the ai "broke everything!" or he added "a bunch of ai slop to the code". he even said that if he had used his own old code, no one would be able to tell the difference. that is the reality. if the function is simple enough, the AI and the human will write it identically. what matters is if the code works or not. "Did you solve this yourself? or did you go to stackoverflow for help?!? because if you used a single book as reference, this is not your code, and we will not be using it!!!!" At the end of the day, a tool is only as useful—or not useful—as the user makes it be (disclaimer: these em dashes were not ai generated)

Major GZDoom issues. Seems the team has basically broken off to create a new fork after one of their leads basically ruined the original GZDoom with AI slop code and worse. RIP original GZDoom
AdrianDogmeat@adrianthe402nd

@miskatonicfox @FPSthetics Someone within their team pushed AI code into GZDoom's codebase, and also tried to sabotage it

@SiRiUSCoOp @TheDoomDominion I don’t know enough about the project to have an opinion on the actual people involved. But your rant is crazy. And AI can do it all? AI can’t manage to keep to real facts. It keeps making stuff up. Why would you want to go whole hog on a tool…..that lies to you.

one of their leads? the guy's username, Graf Zahl, is the GZ. This was HIS fork of ZDoom that all these bums jumped on. This is simply a mutiny attempting to ride the anti-AI sentiment. They should indeed go make their own forks and fuck right off. Bunch of losers. This does highlight the hatred open source developers have for AI generated code. They correctly fear that it will ultimately replace them. You see, with AI, you can just do it all. It replaces exactly these lower tier cocksuckers who are constantly fighting for control of the vision. Now each person can execute their own vision. In fact, the vision is all that matters. Most of these people are supporting someone else's project exactly because they lack their own vision. But once they get comfortable, the moment they get some of their own ideas, they try to overthrow or take over a project. This is literally an attempt to do that by blowing the AI thing out of proportion and trying to make a big stink over it. He used it for unix dark theme switching shit. Im sure a unix dev contributor felt entitled to writing that part. But he isnt needed anymore. That is why he is mad. This is why I will never open source. These people will always pretend that they just want to help, but then you actually help them learn your codebase, and their little ego always takes off on them. Im glad that AI will make these bottom feeders obsolete. Now we all just can code our own vision, and there is no more use for these "helpers" who are really just waiting for their moment to take over.
