Great points! Though won't hold my breath for the implementation, at least in the near future... unfortunately. But at least it is good to see these problems being acknowledged, though they are obvious enough to have been acknowledged (& addressed!) a while ago. Yep, here we are.

For those who think @nature piece👇🏻 is sensationalism, here is a summary of the 1st 3 yrs of this new ambitious NHMRC grant scheme. It highlights additional issues that occur when independent lab heads (L1-3) are assessed & ranked together. & the L1 women received less $. 1/4

Men secure a greater share of medical-research funding than women in Australia’s largest grant-award programme, despite applying at similar rates go.nature.com/311hPbI

There is no difference in the capability of women & men to design & perform outstanding research, yet the current funding system is biased against #WomeninSTEMM. Support an overhaul in the distribution of NHMRC funding - Sign the Petition! chng.it/W5VPKLjY via @ChangeAUS

Just signed this petition & encourage you to do the same. Diversity means better science. The biases in the system are not defensible

Carly, the best thing since sliced bread
It’s nearly 3yr since my first miscarriage. I’ve had two more since, both different and awful. The fact I’m going to hospital tomorrow and should be leaving with a baby a couple days later seems almost far fetched. Spare me a prayer or a nice thought tonight. I won’t be sleeping.

I don't have any new grants or new pubs to announce, but we're still in a pandemic, I have two kids under 5, and we're all doing relatively ok. That feels like a huge win worthy of a tweet.
