I made some of my code 23x faster in about 15 minutes. Turns out I'd completely fucked the memory access pattern and spilled over my per-thread register allocation. And this was in 64-bit. A friend then accelerated it another 10x by changing a complicated predicate into a mask.

I think it's possible they delay dlss 5, not because of any backlash but because I find it really implausible that they actually make it work on even a 5090 in 6 months.

Performance testing thanks to discord member Loreciao. Looks like RTX 2060 onwards should be able to hit 60 for HD as well with Quality mode. Was a bit concerned about first gen RTX cards. Specs: 2560x1080 Resolution (21:9) R7 5800x RTX 2070 Super. DLSS Quality (Preset F)

I've never spoken poorly of dlss because it is an incredibly powerful tool (when not used as a crutch obviously) but this just isnt actually dlss anymore it is something completely different using the same name

@AgileJebrim @prime_31 from what i see online, it's similar to Switch 2, not the 9 year old Switch 1 these games were built for... i understand your frustration with the engine though.

@prime_31 I’m currently running my renderer on the Jetson Orin Nano Super, which is fairly similar to what’s inside the Nintendo Switch. It seems to be performing fairly well. The performance budget is tighter but hardly something that’s unmanageable.

@Jawmuncher @XaelEpcut they should just add an alternative for the server check (like a password or something) that they publicly disclose when the game goes live.

@XaelEpcut Nope. To enforce these kind of restrictions, they’re done via online checks now. Which benefits a short-term problem but not a long-term one. As that check will mean anyone that tries to play (even after release) will need an online check before being able to play offline

@EskilSteenberg @SebAaltonen Yes. the USB-C spec has support for Displayport - no Thunderbolt needed. The MacBook Neo supports 1 external screen at 4k 60fps.

@SebAaltonen Can you connect an external screen without Thunderbolt? That feels like a serious limitation.

@Vudak_ 100%. We're so lucky Bluepoint got to do both a Remaster and a Remake of Shadow of the Colossus. Perfect result. They actually did a remaster of Demon's Souls for PS4 Pro as well but PlayStation cancelled its release to focus on marketing the PS5 Remake instead.

I absolutely recommend people emulate the original on the rpcs3 emulator after. It’s super easy to setup and runs like butter. And then you can really appreciate the artistic differences with the designs and OST. Plus I’d love if the OG was playable on PS4 and PC natively one day

@2_left_thumbs is the game in question Öoo? The game has zero words, and manages to explain its puzzles purely by gameplay. literally one of the best puzzle games ever made and you're shitting on the developer for no reason.

@real_EnVadeh Garbage collector overhead is a small price to pay in situations where memory safety is critical. Fil-C brings guaranteed memory safety to the already existing billions of lines of C code. A memory safe OS is already viable today with Fil-C; no other toolchain can do that!

@JoaoBapt @rainbowpikmin i have a homebrewed switch, so it was just: - compile the repo into an nro file with switch devkitpro toolchain - copy the file over and run it
