Wild FTC case filed yesterday:
Scammers allegedly created thousands of fake home repair businesses and fake 5-star reviews to support them.
When a customer searches for local HVAC, electrician, or other home repair services, they see the listings and call.
Calls are diverted to representatives in the Philippines, who tell customers that a "technician" will be dispatched.
They take payment over the phone and then "in many cases, no one shows up."
FTC says that since at least 2018, "Defendants have deceived well over 100,000 consumers ... and have taken tens of millions of dollars."

This is crazy. The shai hulud exploit is embedding itself in Claude and VSCode to re-execute itself, even after the original packages have been uninstalled.
I'm never installing anything ever again.

‼️🚨 UPDATE: The TanStack npm attack is now a full campaign. 'Mini' Shai-Hulud has hit: - OpenSearch - Mistral AI - Guardrails AI -UiPath - Squawk packages across npm and PyPI The malware specifically targets AI developer tooling. It hooks into Claude Code (.claude/settings.json) and VS Code (.vscode/tasks.json) to re-execute on every tool event, long after the infected package is gone. npm uninstall does not fix this.

For those who think I am making this up, Toyota is about to release a service bulletin stating you can temporarily use 0w20 in lieu of 0w8 and 0w16 because the Shell Pearl GTL facility at Ras Laffan Qatar is completely offline and we are going to run out of 0w20 soon. Bookmark it

Just got word Mobil and Shell have informed Costco and Walmart they have no packaged product to send them and to expect bare shelves in the motor oil section in a few weeks

@jamesonhaslam Depends on the state you work in. Huge differences across New England for example. Some owners in Vermont pay more and let employee access their own. Others attempt to work within VT system. Totally different in upstate NY or NH.
