@MikeMeehallWood The other thing is it should be easier to score in the last 20 minutes due to fatigue etc. So if you are trailing, and your defence is excellent in this period, not conceding any more points, and winning the arm wrestle through defence goes a long way toward the goal.

@MikeMeehallWood Great article. I love the point about physicality, speed, and directness being rewarded more than premature shifts when attempting a comeback.

@centralNRL If spending tax payer dollars to brainwash/bribe media is smart, then this is Newton level genius.

Charlie White and James Graham (Bye Round), plus the Hello Sport boys and Levels Podcast duo Willie Mason & Justin Horo are in PNG right now after being invited by Michael Chammas to tour the facilities. Smart move to get influential voices on the ground. Chammas knows exactly what he’s doing here. Apparently a private jet was involved too… not sure if this was a joke or not (@TripleM_NRL)

@centralNRL It’s all fun and games until you realise a lot of this is paid for with our tax dollars correct? 😅

@codenrl He's played badly for Melbourne leading into Origin before and absolutely killed it in Origin.

Call me crazy, but Ryan Couchman should be in serious consideration for Origin. Need an impact forward off the bench that will actually make an impact? Ryan Couchman. Churns through work whenever he’s on the field. Fits the mould of that typical player that can come on after 20 minutes in Origin once the game has settled. Absolutely would not look out of place in Sky Blue.

Despite reports Apisai Koroisau is available for Origin 1, his three-game suspension means he won’t play again beforehand if selected. If anything, it could work in NSW’s favour — he comes in fresh.

@rlwriters Brown has surprised me and has looked better as a new 7 transitioning from 6 than most. Plays a lot less sideways than I thought he would.

Jake Duke’s claim that “Ponga is terrorising them” isn’t wrong, but that space in which he was allowed to do so came from a very halfback-like play from Brown.

There's been talk about lifting the age limit for under-19s State of Origin, which could see the likes of Casey McLean and Lachlan Galvin eligible for NSW 🔥 DETAILS 👉 bit.ly/4d1Dmlx

@telegraph_sport They've done this before. It is a stupid idea that undermines the whole rationale for the game.

The Titans have informed hooker Sam Verrills, that the club is not currently in a position to offer him a contract extension beyond this season. It means Oliver Pascoe and Luke Sommerton will fight it out for the hooker position. 📝 @travismeyn

@centralNRL He is called an "immortal" because he was a great player, not because he has a history of coaching expansion teams to success when everything against them.

Bears CEO Anthony De Ceglie says the club has no issue with PNG’s tax-free incentives and warned against doubting them. “People who underestimate an Immortal like Mal underestimate him at their own peril,” he said. (Daily Telegraph)

@joey_waugh @735Doon It's a sound philosophy because there are often massive over reactions in the betting markets.

@AdamSmith196417 @735Doon Absolutely agree. And in essence, this is what my NRL punting is based upon game by game. By default I lean to the underdogs because there is so much more that goes into a result than who the better team is on paper.

NRL Futures Over the past month we have seen that the Panthers are not untouchable. Anything under $3 for the premiership this far out is way too short. I will continue to lay them. #NRL #Betfair

@GurugardenerNz @joey_waugh @735Doon You mean last night, right? Agree that Kenny is super important to their defence. Last night, I thought Cleary didn't kick well and they weren't ruthless enough, especially in the first half.

@joey_waugh @735Doon If we had best of 3 type finals series, it might be different. I think in general the structure of the NRL season prohibits backing heavy favourites.

@GurugardenerNz @joey_waugh @735Doon Exactly. Panthers were not at their best last night either, but still won. You can tell how much Dogs put into the game by how flat they were the following week.

@AdamSmith196417 @joey_waugh @735Doon Oh yeah I seen that 100%, I agree Just one of those games were penrith didn't really care if they won but the win meant EVERYTHING to the dogs. For them it was a test against the best,to prove themself for panthers it was just another game.

@GurugardenerNz @joey_waugh @735Doon Agree Penrith were not good, but watch the Bulldogs in that game and in Vegas. They were at 100% intensity in both of what were clearly big occassions for them. After that watch Bulldogs v Parra, Knights, Broncos, etc. They were nowhere near as commited in these other games.

@AdamSmith196417 @joey_waugh @735Doon They did and they didn't... I agree they met a hungry bulldogs (the one game kikau decided to do anything remotely decent) But actually the panthers beat themself, they made a horrendous amount of unusual errors, everyone had an off game, the attack was woeful the entire game

@joey_waugh @735Doon Any team that can be thumped by the 2026 bulldogs had serious flaws. I had penrith 12&under as last leg of a multi tonight but all week I was gonna pump manly @ $5 and boy they got close
