@_joeb0501 @GabSutton Clark is defensive and not fast but was asked to attack more this year which exposed his weakness. His assist tally was good but I'd blame the management more than him. Pushing him forward a lot isn't a great use of him. You could do that with Malone because he was faster

@GabSutton Max works hard and is reliable in that he’s almost always fit. Problem he has is he’s very slow at this point and it felt like we were regularly targeted down that side whenever there was an opposition with pace in their side

I felt Max Clark was a bit unlucky to lose some momentum in his career when he signed for Gillingham - off the back of being one of Stevenage's most consistent players in the second half of their 22/23 promotion-winning campaign. They got Scott Malone when he became available at late notice, could've been forgiven for part of him feeling a bit put-out having expected to be first-choice. Difficult for a solid, tidy, workmanlike & reliable 'steady Eddie' profile of left-back to move the needle for an underachieving side. He's not the type of left-back who's going to hugely stand out individually, so he needs to be part of a tight-knit group with teammates who are on his wavelength in terms of the intangibles, otherwise he probably fades into the background, even if what he offers is valuable. As such, I'd probably take a pinch of Gillingham salt with the fact the last three years haven't gone as hoped for him. Won Players POTY at Priestfield this year, and I definitely think he deserves another crack at League Two. Have a feeling Steve Cotterill might like him at Cheltenham. Long shot, may possibly remember him from starting for Hull in the Championship, when they beat his Birmingham side 6-1 in September 2017. I'd expect the Robins will be in the market for a left-back this summer, having had to play Jonathan Tomkinson there - albeit to positive effect - for much of the season. #CTFC 🔴🐦

@HDavisDRFC @GabSutton Hale and Dack are League 1 quality as is Robbie McKenzie because he was and he was approached by L1 teams. I think Sam Gale would get into an organised league 1 team. SPH and Andy Smith could be in the future but that's it. Connor Masterson would be if he could stay fit

@GabSutton Anyone there who you think can move up to league 1? I doubt there will be with Gills’ poor season but I liked Aaron Rowe when he was at Crewe but seems he hasn’t kicked on

People should be allowed to rent a property for a fixed period of time. Today that right has vanished. All tenancies are now infinite. Mutual agreement for a one, two, or five year rental is now illegal. This will help literally no one.

Since the beginning of 2026, #Gills have conceded 46 goals in the league. 3 more than Barrow. 5 more than Tranmere. 11 more than Newport. 17 more than Harrogate. 18 more than Crawley. It's even 3 more than Sheffield Wednesday, who haven't won a single match this year. By my reckoning, that means we've conceded more goals in 2026 than any other team in the top 4 divisions. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

If the form had been this bad start of the season we'd have been buying in January meaning we likely would have improved. Not that sticking plaster is good as it's more expense

You can’t blame injuries ..every team has them

Chuffed for Booth getting his first EFL goal on debut. Brilliant moment. But that performance was unprofessional and embarrassing. If the players are protesting contracts, it looked like it. Embarrassed to be a Gills fan again today. #Gills #GermanGillsShow #BarnetFC

Hey, my partner paid absolutely nothing. She's never had a job since I've known her. She has contributed absolutely nothing. My situation is much, much worse than his. She wants her name on the deed ? Fuckin' earn it and take some accountability. He has put up, so now it's time for you to shut up and provide for the life he wants with you in any way you can. Fucking SOMETHING - just try damn it. And if you can't ? Sit down and be quiet - YOU know nothing.

My boyfriend and I are planning to buy a house together after dating for 3 years. He earns significantly more than I do, so he’d be contributing about 70% of the down payment. Because of that, he wants the house to be only in his name. He says it’s just “fair” based on the numbers, but we’d both be living there, splitting bills, and building a life together. I’ve been watching a lot of relationship content about equity vs equality, and it made me realize things don’t always have to be 50/50 but this feels like I’d have no security at all. He said if we ever broke up, he’d “do the right thing,” but that doesn’t really reassure me. My friends say don’t move in unless my name is on it. His friends apparently think I’m being entitled. Now I feel stuck between trusting him and protecting myself. Is this a red flag I’m trying too hard to rationalize?

@simonjjtaylor @trwsenti So many people don't understand the tax situation with pensions (despite most contributing) and your not taught anything other than "do it". If they taught kids and young adults about pensions, investing, savings, tax, bank accounts etc you'd find outcomes would improve

@AdamWesgate @trwsenti There is also pension credit for low incomes & we definitely should be building more social housing however if you work 45 years & have no home or pension, chances are you've been pretty feckless The benefit system should not incentivise that behaviour

You'll work for roughly 45 years. The state pension is £11,500 a year. After 45 years of paying into the system, they'll give you £958 a month. Rent on a one-bed flat: £750. Energy: £190. Council tax: £165. Food for one: £250. Phone: £30. That's £1,385 in basic costs. Your pension covers £958. You're £427 short. Every single month. After 45 years of work. That's the retirement they promised you.

@simonjjtaylor @trwsenti But also pension education is required. All you get told is pensions are important when you're young with no details and then nothing until you're 55 and can withdraw a quarter tax free. So if you have no guidance from parents etc a lot fall into a trap

@simonjjtaylor @trwsenti And those people's pension will be very low. With pension credits you have to be incredibly poor to get one. Even with it the quality of life isnt great. You don't earn loads of money, waste it all then go on pension credits. By default you'd have paid NI.

@simonjjtaylor @trwsenti Not owning your own home doesn't make you feckless. Most people who own their own home have had a leg up be it direct financial help or even just living at home cheaper for longer. If you are thrown out into the world and you can only do minimum wage jobs it's bloody hard

@FOM_BLOG @GillsInTheBlood Didn't the wheels fall off at the same time under Evans in his 2nd and 3rd season? To be fair this didn't happen under Harris. 1st L2 season we were consistently bad in the first half of the campaign and second season we were still getting results until he was sacked.

@GillsInTheBlood For the same-thing to happen three years in a row - a good start followed by a dreadful run - is frustrating, this same sequence has happened under Harris Clemence Bonner Coleman and Ainsworth, whilst Ainsworth is not helping himself with some decision's, this squad needs changes

NEW: Richard Tice failed to pay almost £100,000 in corporation tax, benefiting his investment company which made large donations to Reform UK. First time Reform's deputy leader's tax affairs can be directly linked to finances of Nigel Farage's party. Tice said: "Naturally I am always happy to put things right and if numbers need rechecking, of course I will pay what is owed - be that more or less." It's another big story from @Gabriel_Pogrund who also revealed last week that Tice's property company failed to pay £91,000 in tax before dividends.

@AdamWesgate @trwsenti More pensioners seemed to struggle in my childhood than they do today. That said, pensioners should not have to struggle, then or now. The idea that the state will look after your lifestyle, has had a reality check, it just won't let you starve.

@trwsenti Since the early 90s we've known that the state pension will not be sufficient to live on alone in retirement & the age will rise. For 35 years workers have had private and work pensions, too. The majority of people retiring today have at least one pot on top of the state pension.
