A year ago @SamBroner and I reconnected and started talking stablecoins. We quickly converged on a shared thesis: stablecoins don't just make payments faster and cheaper. They let parties transact directly for the first time - that fundamentally inverts the power dynamics of payments. The missing piece: $1 needs to move as $1. That infrastructure doesn't exist yet. That's why we're building a stablecoin clearinghouse. Thrilled to introduce The Better Money Company.

Tl;dr I joined @bettermoney_co to lead marketing & operations. I got into crypto ~10 years ago. As an immigrant, I’ve felt the pain of a fragmented monetary system for as long as I can remember, especially for international payments. Stablecoins offer a better path. They’re faster, cheaper, better money. But they don’t yet move like it. We’re building a stablecoin clearinghouse to change that. Excited to be joining @SamBroner and @AdamZuck13 on this journey to shape the next era of money!

Stablecoins are better money. Our goal is simple: build the infrastructure that allows them to move like it.

1/7 Decentralization is the key to unlocking web3’s potential and navigating regulatory uncertainty. But it’s hard. Here are two analytical tools @a16zcrypto and @lathamwatkins have used to help over 100 web3 companies pursue decentralization. 🧵 a16zcrypto.com/posts/article/…

@milesjennings Genuine question: if we assume concrete guidance is not in the cards in the immediate future, and if (this is a big “if”) most of these resources go toward expanding enforcement against fraud, is this a good thing?

Providing constructive guidance that builds on the 2019 Framework is the only way to scale investor protection b/c legal practitioners (the # of which far exceeds the enforcement division) can use it to steer builders towards compliance. Enforcement w/o guidance isn't scalable.

Today we announced that we’re bolstering the unit responsible for protecting investors in crypto markets & from cyber-related threats. The newly renamed Crypto Assets & Cyber Unit in the Division of Enforcement will grow to 50 dedicated positions.

Looking forward to having @milesjennings on the Law of Code podcast tomorrow. We’ll discuss his new piece on decentralization, what being GC at @a16z looks like & the future of DAOs. Any other topics/questions we should cover?

Good idea from @NotThatZuck at Latham I hadn't seen: Investors and companies should covenant to prevent their employees from sybil attacking projects to increase airdrop allocations. Think we can all agree to this, so we'll be adding a covenant to our investment docs.
