Iran keeps firing missiles at Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia keeps not retaliating. But in 2025, Saudi Arabia signed a mutual defense agreement with Pakistan. Pakistan's prime minister just told the Saudi foreign minister that Pakistan would "always stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia." Iran is pushing a nuclear-armed country's treaty ally. Slowly. Repeatedly. Pakistan has every reason to want de-escalation. It just fought a 4-day air and missile war with India less than a year ago. It's fighting Taliban cross-border skirmishes in Afghanistan. It cannot afford another front. But it also cannot abandon Saudi Arabia if Iran crosses a line. Another example of the genius foreign policy of Washington which wastes hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ money, destabilises entire regions, and eventually leads to blowback. The blowback now won’t be refugee waves and terrorism, in a few years the blowback could be nuclear.
