Even distant bases are under threat. Attack aircraft have to refuel multiple times to reach Iranian territory. Iran is systematically pushing the US out of the Middle East.

The U.S. killed massive numbers of Germans and Japanese in WW2 - orders of magnitude more than in war against Islamic regime in Iran - and we created zero more Nazis or Kamikazes from WW2.
