No, Dan Lin’s comment doesn’t mean Netflix is abandoning theatrical releases entirely. He said they’ve “accepted” they simply won’t work with the group of filmmakers who demand theatrical releases as a non-negotiable. Narnia (Greta Gerwig) is explicitly called out as the exception getting a wide release. Netflix still does selective/limited theatrical for certain big titles but stays streaming-first overall.
