Have you ever been in the Capitol building? It is hotter than hell in certain parts. (The temp is likely set for the 80-year-olds in Congress).
That aside, strokes have the ability to alter one’s feeling of temperature. Fetterman also has a large growth on the rear of his neck. His doctor very likely wrote an accommodation request to allow him to wear relaxed clothing to keep the growth from being rubbed against by way of a tight fitting shirt and tie and his clothing to be such that he did not need to be in a suit at all times for those reasons. Congress altered the dress code for everyone shortly after he arrived. That was very likely done to accommodate him given he is the only one using it.
My mother always told me, “You get what you give.” I encourage you to remember that. Making fun of anyone with a disability can be returned to you in some form later in life. That is why you “Always treat people as you want to be treated.” Fetterman should be respected as a Congressman. I hope you will see him differently given what I took the time to write. He has made tremendous progress recovering from this stroke. I, personally, am proud of him for not resigning and showing this country that many who suffer medical obstacles are capable of doing jobs with accommodations if afforded the opportunity.

@cheersbigears01 @tompfoster @ahmedhankir God bless you. My friend was in a similar situation. You aren’t alone. Enjoy Christmas. Reflect on the good times. 😊
English

@tompfoster @ahmedhankir As someone who has to rush my wife to ER and she then spent 3 weeks in the mental health ward I would strongly disagree. There are many very urgent and serious matters. Many hover around urgent care and drug therapy that’s needed. Your comment is disgusting
English

Mental challenges don’t get put on hold for Christmas. When a mentally disturbed person shows up in the ER, a skilled doctor is needed to afford treatment and prepare paperwork for transfer. Doctors on the ER floor don’t have time to deal with these complex patients. This man (and all psychiatrists) are trained to deal with patients in these complex circumstances and they have the skill set to understand the mind like no other physician. In a busy ER, the on call psychiatrist is vital. These patients are disruptive and put the ER in a tailspin. Without a trained, skilled psychiatrist who can expedite a transfer out, the ER easily unwinds.
This man has a vital job in the ER. This isn’t about solving/permanently treating/fixing the patient’s complex mental health issue. It is about his willingness to step forward and process the patients so they can receive needed treatment in secure settings (loved ones, hospital, mental health, etc.) while his colleagues enjoy Christmas with friends and family.
Anyway, Merry Christmas!

Forgive me but there are no life threatening psychiatric emergencies that require immediate therapy (the waiting lists for these treatments will attest to that fact). A psychiatric episode can be stabilised for days and weeks without proper treatment. And it's not like you rock up and instantly cure their schizophrenia, is it? It's not an RTA requiring golden hour triage and treatment. How many times have you been called in from your bed at home? Isn't the reality that it can always wait until the morning?

@ahmedhankir Your post made me smile. You are a wonderful role model. I’m sure your colleagues love and appreciate you for many reasons.

I am perplexed about allowing animals—of any variety—in the cabin of an aircraft. Absent the animal being a seeing eye dog, I don’t think we should be traveling with animals in confined spaces for one reason: allergies. When you’re in a tight cabin with a horrible allergy to cats and one is planted next to you, it’s not good.

NEW: Woman has meltdown after Alaska Airlines refused to let her cram her two cats under her plane seat.
The woman, identified as Alexandra Compton, was flying from Portland and accused the staff of ruining Christmas.
"You're telling me I can't go home for Christmas right now. You understand that? Do you understand that? I am about to start crying," she said.
In a follow-up, Compton said she had to purchase a second pet carrier and book a new flight.
Pets shouldn't even be allowed in the cabin in the first place.

@RepSwalwell Expressing your genuine, sincere concern about a fellow lawmaker is respectable. To intertwine politics with it shows your thought pattern is consumed entirely with political grandstanding.

@BenSasse Your words were so inspiring. I got tearful as I read what you wrote. You captured what I’m sure many in your situation are struggling to say. I wish the very best for you. God bless you.

Friends-
This is a tough note to write, but since a bunch of you have started to suspect something, I’ll cut to the chase: Last week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die.
Advanced pancreatic is nasty stuff; it’s a death sentence. But I already had a death sentence before last week too — we all do.
I’m blessed with amazing siblings and half-a-dozen buddies that are genuinely brothers. As one of them put it, “Sure, you’re on the clock, but we’re all on the clock.” Death is a wicked thief, and the bastard pursues us all.
Still, I’ve got less time than I’d prefer. This is hard for someone wired to work and build, but harder still as a husband and a dad. I can’t begin to describe how great my people are. During the past year, as we’d temporarily stepped back from public life and built new family rhythms, Melissa and I have grown even closer — and that on top of three decades of the best friend a man could ever have. Seven months ago, Corrie was commissioned into the Air Force and she’s off at instrument and multi-engine rounds of flight school. Last week, Alex kicked butt graduating from college a semester early even while teaching gen chem, organic, and physics (she’s a freak). This summer, 14-year-old Breck started learning to drive. (Okay, we’ve been driving off-book for six years — but now we’ve got paper to make it street-legal.) I couldn’t be more grateful to constantly get to bear-hug this motley crew of sinners and saints.
There’s not a good time to tell your peeps you’re now marching to the beat of a faster drummer — but the season of advent isn’t the worst. As a Christian, the weeks running up to Christmas are a time to orient our hearts toward the hope of what’s to come.
Not an abstract hope in fanciful human goodness; not hope in vague hallmark-sappy spirituality; not a bootstrapped hope in our own strength (what foolishness is the evaporating-muscle I once prided myself in). Nope — often we lazily say “hope” when what we mean is “optimism.” To be clear, optimism is great, and it’s absolutely necessary, but it’s insufficient. It’s not the kinda thing that holds up when you tell your daughters you’re not going to walk them down the aisle. Nor telling your mom and pops they’re gonna bury their son.
A well-lived life demands more reality — stiffer stuff. That’s why, during advent, even while still walking in darkness, we shout our hope — often properly with a gravelly voice soldiering through tears.
Such is the calling of the pilgrim. Those who know ourselves to need a Physician should dang well look forward to enduring beauty and eventual fulfillment. That is, we hope in a real Deliverer — a rescuing God, born at a real time, in a real place. But the eternal city — with foundations and without cancer — is not yet.
Remembering Isaiah’s prophecies of what’s to come doesn’t dull the pain of current sufferings. But it does put it in eternity’s perspective:
“When we've been there 10,000 years…We've no less days to sing God's praise.”
I’ll have more to say. I’m not going down without a fight. One sub-part of God’s grace is found in the jawdropping advances science has made the past few years in immunotherapy and more. Death and dying aren’t the same — the process of dying is still something to be lived. We’re zealously embracing a lot of gallows humor in our house, and I’ve pledged to do my part to run through the irreverent tape.
But for now, as our family faces the reality of treatments, but more importantly as we celebrate Christmas, we wish you peace: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned….For to us a son is given” (Isaiah 9).
With great gratitude, and with gravelly-but-hopeful voices,
Ben — and the Sasses

@mikesayers @JustTheTweets17 Thank you for stating what should be obvious.
English

@JustTheTweets17 I know you're joking, but for those who might try it as a protest, filing a "frivolous" return is a crime, and they will come after you for it.
English

@RepYassAnsari Stop making everything so partisan. This post shows you truly don’t care about the victims whatsoever. I don’t care what side of the aisle these people were on, if they abused children they deserve prison time—end of story.
English

Clinton is more than a pig. He should be criminally charged—and every single one of those offenders (if Trump is among them) should be charged too. However, the release so far shows that there are quite a few men who need to face charges. There is more evidence that has yet to be released. If it shows Trump engaged in unlawful activity with minors, he needs to be put in a prison cell next to the others.
English

@skipmav @RepSwalwell Clinton's a pig. Every Democrat exposed deserves whatever awful stuff that exposure causes. So now explain why you aren't concerned why Trump and Bondi are protecting child rapists?
English

So, this is truly about politics for you? You care nothing about the victims of the files that have been released and finally have justification to let the world know they were abused? Moreover, you know darn well that all files have not yet been released. Trump’s files (if any) are likely coming. As a lawmaker your post today should be a condemnation of the men/women who abused those children and a call for them to be charged. Your silence on that front and political attack says it all.

@prathameshtwts If her face isn’t blocked, she’s not a minor…..

I’m more convinced than ever that you aren’t truly concerned about the innocent children in this matter. Personally, the offenders—regardless of their name, celebrity/political status, skin colder, ethnicity, or economic tier—need to be held accountable. You as a lawmaker should have that as your aim. Moreover, you should be honest and affirm that more photos/emails have yet to be released. You political reps don’t deserve the role you’re given if you can’t absorb the general principle the people as a whole want: we don’t want sex offenders excused due to status. They need to be shamed and prosecuted.

@scarlson99 @MarioNawfal She will be disbarred upon conclusion of the trial. Wisconsin law also states that no one with a Felony conviction can hold public office. Meaning she loses her robes and cannot get it back. Not clear on if they will allow her to retire or if she keeps her pension.

🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: WISCONSIN JUDGE CONVICTED OF FELONY FOR HELPING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT EVADE ICE ARREST
"I'll do it. I'll get the heat."
She got it.
Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan was convicted Thursday of obstructing an official proceeding, a felony carrying up to five years in prison.
She was acquitted of a misdemeanor charge.
The facts: In April, FBI and ICE agents arrived at Dugan's courthouse to arrest Eduardo Flores Ruiz, who had been deported in 2013 and was back in the country illegally facing battery charges.
Dugan sent the agents down the hall to another office.
While they were away, she postponed Flores Ruiz's hearing and personally directed him out a back door.
Prosecutors played a recording of Dugan telling her court reporter about the plan.
When her clerk asked if she should show the immigrant the exit, Dugan replied:
"I'll do it. I'll get the heat."
Agents chased Flores Ruiz on foot and arrested him outside.
He was deported in November.
Dugan, 66, will lose her judgeship.
Wisconsin's constitution bars convicted felons from holding public office.
Prosecutor Kelly Brown Watzka:
"She was a frustrated and angry judge who was fed up, who decided to corruptly take matters into her own hands."
The message is clear: no one is above immigration law. Not even judges.

@DrRitaDed These aren’t “your kids.” If my child were in your class she would make whatever Christmas card/drawing she desired and would speak as she wished. I would ensure that was the case. Your censorship/thought police nonsense isn’t education.

He should take the high ground because he is President of the USA. All he needed to do was simply say he was sorry to hear about the loss and he affords condolences to the family and friends. Then he could have moved on. Instead, he behaved like a five-year-old. Honestly, our country desperately needs respectable adults in political office. There are only a few in there today.
English

@PFalcon451 @JackPosobiec Huge difference between Charlie Kirk’s assassination and Rob Reiner’s being killed by his daughter and well the fact that Rob Reiner had no morals and why should Trump always take the high ground? He made Trump’s life miserable he also colluded with the Russia bullshit
English

I admire your dedication to a cause you believe in. I ask you to open your eyes and realize that our country has serious unresolved issues. Additional regulations aren’t our primary need at this time. We need manageable costs for health insurance, food, housing and the like. Stop printing money. Inflation is killing us. Work for solutions/compromises on the most pressing issues affecting citizens’ everyday lives. As a lawmaker we aren’t looking to you to fund anything other than our basics right now. Fix the essentials and then go from there.

10 years ago, 195 countries agreed to join the Paris Climate Accord. As of today, the United States is the only country to withdraw. As a science professional and public servant, I’ve seen firsthand the impacts of drought, wildfire, flooding and extreme weather events. Withdrawing from the Paris Accord in the midst of a climate crisis is a mistake.
The United States must commit to rejoining and upholding our duties as climate and clean energy leaders. But, rejoining isn’t just about committing to a cleaner future—it’s about ensuring that every community is protected and can thrive.
The climate crisis is the fight of our time. But it’s also an opportunity to build a more just and resilient world for future generations.

@MatrixMysteries Although this is eye-catching, there has to be more to the story. Details are missing here.
English

This is the most important issue? Seriously? Are you not paying attention to what is happening in this country and our world? Geez, we could give a crap about the interests of a handful of musicians/artists. Our country needs to be taking on much more significant issues. You need to be replaced if you can’t see that.
English

@RepJeffries We’ve deserved better for quite some time. You were silent under the prior administration’s flop, but are very vocal now? Shows this post isn’t genuine. It’s a politically-driven ploy. No thanks.
