“We need a system that protects those operating within the rules and penalises those putting other growers at risk, with non-compliant activities.” @GrainProducers@GrainGrowersLtd#ausag

A Northern Mallee farmer and a founder of the popular broadacre discussion group Growing the Crop has been appointed as the new chair of Grain Producers SA. @stockjournalstockjournal.com.au/story/8328640/…
@GrainProducerSA@BPerry0410@AdrianMcCabe6@ViterraAus CFS will insist that FDI @ 10 meters be 35.
This equates to a 2 meter reading of FDI @ 27!
We need to fight this proposal or get prepared for a long harvest.
@AdrianMcCabe6 spoke to a room of growers at @ViterraAus Pre-harvest Meeting today. The question was asked: how many measure Grain Harvest Code at 2 metres (without conversion) & how many measure at 10 metres. Not a single grower raised their hand to say they measure at 10 metres
Hang on, GPSA hasn't been confused by the 2m Wind Speed- see CFS endorsed flyer from 2019 that specifically mentions wind speed measurement at 'no more than 2.0m in height'. My observations (based on about 40 emails to CFS over past year) has indicated the confusion lay with them about the 2.0m vs 10m wind speed factor.
2.0m GFDI of 35 = ~ 10m FDI of 53. So in fact GPSA's proposal of a 10m FDI of 50 is actually a REDUCTION of what the grains industry has been using for 10+ years.
So I'm still confused as to what your beef with GPSA is?
Furious grain growers say new CFS fire risk rules would see farmers banned from harvesting crops at peak times – throwing the whole season into disarray. #TheAdvertiseradelaidenow.com.au/news/south-aus…
Data from an extensive independent weather station network shows grain producers may be forced out of the paddock more than double the number of hours under a proposal from the SA Country Fire Service (CFS) to reduce the Cease Harvest Threshold. Read more: grainproducerssa.com.au/hours-out-of-p…
