I am hereby announcing that I am a NO on Amendments 4 and 5. The Republican establishment is beyond crooked as hell and they are selling us a crock of lies on these Amendments. I am a no on 4 because it doesn’t apply equal passage standards to all ballot amendments, and it seriously strays from what grassroots conservatives like Ron Calzone envisioned and laid out on proper IP reform. Missourians should never accept less than what they deserve from their government, and should demand better. It is their right. (see Wassinger's statement below). Missouri Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick has been sounding the warning bell, too. LOUDLY. He has to, this is an election year for him. If he didn't, would you vote for him? HIS WORDS: "We are basically putting this information out so people understand there is going to be a reckoning at some point. He said that in the past 4 years the Missouri legislature has handed out $13 billion to lobbyist, special interests, and career politician's pet projects. (See his FB post below). Now, they come to you and ask for you to trust them. Trust them to "expand the base" (code for tax goods higher than they already are taxed and lift the ban in taxing services that currently exists in your Constitution). They also have opened the section allowing them to create toll roads, too. (Page 2, references to 30b. 30c, and 30d --lines 25-26 of the legislation that gives license to Amendment 5 if it were to pass). See language below. Also important, did you realize that Senator Curtis Trent introduced a new version (different from what the house had passed) of Amendment 5 at Midnight? MIDNIGHT when Missouri slept and the doors to the capital were locked? THIS is how they got Amendment 5 across the line in the senate. (remember, there is nothing that gives any end date in the legislation or guarantee that your state income tax will EVER go away). Or, do you believe this is about giving the same guys who have betrayed us the keys to the Kingdom to "fix" what they have broken for the last 10 years where they have more than doubled Missouri's budget? Do you trust them? Tell them to cut the budget by a NO VOTE ON A5.

Springfield families can’t afford to give politicians unchecked power to raise taxes on ANY good and ANY service through Amendments 4 & 5. I’ll be voting no. The good thing about this? You don’t have to take my word for it. Read the language, and decide for yourself.

The scare about Amendment 5 is that it means higher property or sales taxes. Not true. It's written to stay within Hancock limits, and no new real estate tax could pass even one chamber of the legislature. Tax consumption, not productivity. Yes on 5.

If you're a fiscal conservative, Amendment 5 is an easy call. It ratchets Missouri's income tax down as the economy grows, on the path to zero. Keep more of what you earn. Vote YES on 5 by August 4th.

@GovMikeKehoe Eliminating tax burdens for Missourians is a great idea. But why did the Legislature put wording in this Amendment language that allows them (Legislature) to impose new sales taxes for the next 5 years WITHOUT APPROVAL of Missouri voters?

Right now, every Missouri worker pays state income taxes on every paycheck. Amendment 5 is about ending that burden and creating a path to local property tax relief. This plan is responsible and sustainable. Let's get it done.

Amendment 5 is a tax-cut amendment, placing taxpayer protections in the Missouri Constitution instead of relying on political promises. The Constitution—not politicians—sets the rules. A YES vote means Missouri workers win by keeping more of what they earn.
