A lot of misconception is going around concerning the relationship between PFDJ and TPLF post-war and what led to the war. So let's assume PFDJ is Isaias and TPLF was Meles. 1/1

Call for investigation ‼️ Formal Call for Investigation into the Citizenship Eligibility of 🇪🇷 Eritrean National Football Team Players for CAF-Authorized Matches** Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Secretariat. Cairo, Egypt FIFA Integrity and Compliance Department Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) African Football Confederation Disciplinary Committee. Dear CAF President, Executive Committee, and Integrity Officials, I am writing to formally request an immediate and thorough investigation by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) into the citizenship status of all players representing the Eritrean national football team. This call is made in light of the ongoing 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match between Eritrea and Eswatini, hosted in Morocco on March 25, 2026. According to CAF regulations (as outlined in the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations and other relevant statutes, including Chapter 16 – Qualification of Players, Article 38), each national association must select its representative team exclusively from players who enjoy the citizenship of the country of the association concerned. CAF and FIFA rules require players to hold valid citizenship of the national association they represent, typically verified through official documentation such as passports. However, it is widely known that the majority if not all of Eritrea’s current national team players hold citizenship of other countries in instead of Eritrean citizenship. Eritrea’s nationality law (Proclamation No. 21/1992 and subsequent provisions) does not permit or recognize dual citizenship for its nationals. Eritrean authorities have consistently maintained this position, treating individuals with foreign passports as Eritrean nationals only when they are within Eritrean jurisdiction, and denaturalization is possible for those who acquire foreign nationality. Given these clear legal realities: - How can Eritrean players who are documented as holding citizenship from other countries (such as European nations where many diaspora players were born) legitimately represent Eritrea in official CAF competitions? - What verification process has CAF applied to confirm that every player on the Eritrean squad holds valid, exclusive Eritrean citizenship as required? - Why has the Eritrean team been permitted to participate in the match currently being held in Morocco without apparent confirmation that all players meet the strict citizenship criteria? This situation raises serious questions about compliance with CAF and FIFA eligibility rules, potential irregularities in player registration, and the integrity of African football competitions. It also undermines fair play and the principles of national representation. I respectfully urge CAF to: 1. Immediately launch an independent investigation into the citizenship documentation of every player on the current Eritrean national team roster. 2. Require the Eritrean National Football Federation to provide verifiable proof (e.g., original Eritrean passports without dual status, birth certificates, and naturalization records where applicable) for all squad members. 3. Suspend the Eritrean team from further participation in CAF competitions pending the outcome of the investigation if any irregularities are found. 4. Publish a transparent report on the findings to maintain public confidence in African football governance. I am available to provide any additional publicly available information or references supporting this request. This matter concerns the credibility of CAF competitions and must be addressed promptly to uphold the regulations and the spirit of the game. Thank you for your urgent attention to this important issue. @CAF_Online @CAF_Media @FIFAcom @FIFAWorldCup @fifacom_ar @caf_online_AR @CAFCLCC_ar

A country's real strength is in how it treats its young people, not how it breaks them. Forcing kids into years of military service without even giving them basic things isn't serving the country, it’s stealing their lives. Any government that stays in power by turning its own country into a prison and its children into forced labor has completely failed. Power should belong to the people, not a dictator who rules through fear. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #RegimeChangeInEritrea @Eritrea_UN @UNHumanRights @UN_Women @UN_HRC @UN @hrw @amnesty @EU_Commission @realDonaldTrump @martinplaut @UNGeneva @_AfricanUnion @EritreanPress @shabait

The Eritrean National Team has roots going back to the 1920s decades before Ethiopia's was even formed. 🇪🇷⚽️ This photo from Sept 11, 1928, captures a squad that was part of a highly organized "Serie A" style league in Asmara, centered around the iconic Cicero Stadium. While the Ethiopian team wasn't established until 1945, Eritrea was already miles ahead in talent and infrastructure. This superior quality is exactly why Eritrean players were the backbone of the 1962 AFCON-winning squad. History doesn't lie. #Eritrea #FootballHistory #Asmara #AfricanFootball

Eritrean national football team's squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers relies heavily on diaspora players who live outside Eritrea and hold second or dual citizenship. Home-based players often defect and seek political asylum abroad during away matches—a pattern linked to the country's indefinite national/military service policies, with over 60 defections since 2009. Diaspora players are now being actively called up as a “fix” for the team. Nearly the entire home-based national team had previously fled, forcing the federation to turn to foreign-based players. Only a small number of local (home-based) players are selected. Eritrea is playing today Eswatini in Morocco today. G00D LUCK. The full roster below not confirmed

It seems the Eritrean Football Federation is heading toward short-term survival mode by relying on diaspora players. That’s understandable but it’s not a real solution. What about the homegrown players? You can’t expect results from players who are in military camps across the country, bring them together for 2–3 weeks & demand performance. That’s not how football works. The reality is every chance they get, they will think about leaving b/c going back means military camps not a football career that part needs to be fixed. @shabait

Important point: Waiting for regime change to solve cases like #DawitIsaak has proved disastrous. @MariaStenergard‘s so-called ”new approach“ simply follows the EU‘s official non-confrontational policy - Afwerki has little to fear.

PP are so inelegant they even made Djibouti interject.

To Mr. Zemedeneh Negatu @Zemedeneh, Your interview on Gazette Plus is deeply misleading and compelled me to respond. I normally don’t respond to armchair theorists, but I thought you were better informed than that. Indeed, You are free to please a narrative. I am equally free to challenge misinformation. With all due respect, claiming that 🇩🇯’s #ports are « expensive and inefficient » is not serious economics, it is simply a convenient talking point detached from facts. After Ethiopia lost direct access to the sea, Djibouti did not merely provide an alternative. Djibouti built the entire logistics backbone that enabled #Ethiopia’s #economic #transformation. More importantly, how can anyone credibly argue that Djibouti’s port investments are « insufficient »or « inappropriate »when over $10 billion has been invested in world-class infrastructure, including: • Deep-sea ports • Specialized terminals • An electrified railway • Integrated logistics corridors This is not inefficiency. This is strategic infrastructures built at scale and serving not only Ethiopia, but global trade and regional integration. Let me be absolutely clear: Without Djibouti, Ethiopia’s transformation at this scale would not have been possible. Djibouti has been an indispensable pillar of Ethiopia’s industrialization journey. As for the recurring narrative about the « billions paid to Djibouti». I welcome a transparent, fact-based debate with open books and verifiable data. Be my guest. I speak not from theory, but from direct involvement as one of the contributors and witnesses to this exceptional 🇩🇯🇪🇹 partnership journey. And also a great friend and lover of Ethiopia. You may well find that an apology to Djibouti is in order. Djibouti is not a burden. Djibouti is and has been a #strategic #multiplier for Ethiopia. It is time to move beyond misleading narratives and return to facts.
